Hiya Folks, after using search & being confused without finding why threads were popping up, no highlight to show relevance, so many words with ant in them seem to be put forwards.... After a nice 2 & 1/2 month stay i have moved and discovered a house over run with ants, of all sizes. It has only taken one day and they are exploring a great place to move into the Arrow! What do/ have tried etc to stop invasion? My only other time being affected was in September 2014 and only due to a piece of choc mud cake wrapped in a tissue my Daughter gave me to take away, I do not have any food etc at the moment, while cleaning- detailing so i guess they are just after somewhere dry or just like the humm of the fan?? Any suggestions please.

Hi Ate On our trip around the block I used bits of old inner tube glued to wooden blocks under the feet of the van. Worked a treat. Ants do not like walking on rubber it seems. Cheers, Bob.

At least you know - where ever you have black ants there wont be any white ants.
Then you can always use "Rid Ant" put small drops along their trails and soon you'll notice they're gone.

Thanks Jacko & Ted, they are climbing up the *tyre then running along to get into the fridge vents, just 1 or 4 atm as they are killed on sight, it is the hidden ones nesting until the next choc cake gets unleashed i am worried about, Good news aboutthe white ones! * Ok so maybe my light truck tyres are not rubbery enough or the tyre shine stuff they put on hides the smell? Maybe it is just city ants that just do not care?? haha!

Gday Atefooterz I agree mate ,ants are a pain in the a^*e to get rid of. In the past I've had the small black ones in the van and these are easy to get rid of with Antrid , however just lately I have been having trouble with some tiny, tiny brown ones here in Central Queensland that wont take the bait with Antrid and so Im with you looking for suggestions to kill the little freeloaders. With regard to ants crawling over rubber ,I must admit that I have never seen them enter over tyres however they love to climb up corner steadies , jockey wheels and broomstick handles leaning against the caravan wall .Also when I stayed in a Caravan park once the little sh^*s were climbing the trees and dropping onto the caravan roof ....very creative Maybe youre right about the city ants not caring atz Cheers Andy

Roach spray still winning, a slight compromise as some are grazing on the green mould, not cleaned since i got the van, along the groove between underside of corner alloy L & the flat white side ally sheet

"baby talcum powder", as told to me by a traveller who lives on the road. Cheap & friendly.

"baby talcum powder", as told to me by a traveller who lives on the road. Cheap & friendly. Just a warning for anyone with perspex windows... ALL forms of talcum powder should be banned! It cracks the plastic big time. Have not tried it atm as due to the never ending wet weather, the powder would become a grey slurry to add to the cleaning list.

I was referring to the stabilizers etc, not expecting any one to put it on their windows. (I guess if sir was inside dusting his undies he might splash a bit in the panes ) The talc must form a chemical reaction?

Ha i just know that the baby powder is small enough to get in & expand the plastic, some mates found out the hard way, may be a reaction with the purfume? a product i have avoided for years & only was forced into using, with the kids in nappys close to 30 years ago, many flatmates have driven me crazy so i had a dislike to the stuff by the mid 1970s, as noone would clean bathrooms but loved dusting up the joint!

At the moment there are a few SA ones being eaten by the few hardy NSW ones that survived the heat, a good dose of 100% earth options raid ( reduced to $5) seems to have stopped the critters. My huntsman that was out side moved inside but has gone again, on a boat mast i had a sydney huntsman do 3 laps of the east coast plus numerous dunkings when capsised, i used to see him when i was over & the mast full of water or sometimes at a rest stop when he would go walkies & eat the raod kill on the mast..ahh mother nature!

Ants are driving us out of van and home! Will try your advise greedy53. Love your tale atefooterz. Today a huntsman ran into the franklin, I ran after it back out the door. If only it had known that I was more scared then it was, I'd be toast.

Hiya Mrs Tinkler, my Sydney ants are still around but seem happy hiding out of sight & just eating the funny light brown Adelaide ones . Stiil no sign of ol Matey the huge funnel web. My van is a static display so i can not sleep in it for a couple of days so i have cleared out the Transit Van, only 2 red backs so far..it is the ones you do not see that are a worry!!
