Hi Shane, The roof is not leaking ,( touch wood) this is an insulation paint. The paint shop asked me to paint a sample on the tape , leave it two weeks & scratch test the surface. The product seemed hard as nails & has sealed well. At worst I will have to remove the tape & silicone, but this method seems to be ok? Sept 2017 Update:
Global cote has performed flawlessly , no leaks , has kept colour & appearance, highly recommended.

Recently I had surgery which has put me on the slow bench for 6 weeks. However when Vincent looked like slipping to page 2, I thought I better post something. Been lining drawers & cupboards (yawn) & any small job I can handle, while awaiting Dr's release. Vincents newly painted Fan, used to be my dear old Mum's.

After looking at Shanes efforts I almost feel inadequate posting this small job. Not much paint left up top so its reasonably easy to get back to a "bare metal" prep.

Mustang, awesome job on the van roof. Should be reflecting any solar energy beating down, and provide insurance to the sealing of the roof. Look forward to further works after your recovery.

Mustang i think my project S81091 had info on rebuilding those front windows. i removed the whole thing and remade the top and bottom of the window shelves. i used 10mm ply and then glued 3mm ply to the top of it for the finish. seemed to work ok.

I did think about marine ply, but wanted a solid base to screw to , so we used Tassy Hardwood.

Yeah well that would work. I have finally stopped all the leaks at my front window so it should stay together for a while yet. You would not believe where the leaks could come from in the front window but I got them all sorted.

As some followers will testify , Ive agonised which way to tackle our floor; We have lined the inside with 6mm outdoor ply, screwed & glued, the difference is quite amazing. I can recommend if your floor is a bit soft. "Oh my knees!! I will have to find some stand up jobs for the next couple of days! (The vinyl will be laid when the fridge is re-fitted to gas.)

Well its happened I have to move onto the painting of the exterior. I have two oddly shaped lines of ugly rivets, on the left side, I guess after some sort of track was removed. BEFORE:AFTER:Thank you Lockyer for the idea of folding the metal. The strips will be painted to further hide their appearance.

Why don't you run a length of double sided sail rail down it.
You'd only need a tiny length. Here is it fitted to the old Chesney I had. You would cover the back with silicon so it "squeezes out", that way all those holes would fill with sealer and it would never leak. Note: It's already paint/power coated for you.
You have done an amazing job of getting that strip to match the profile of the cladding. I would have thought that an impossible task!

Hi Shane, I did have sail track organised but as it was never going to be functional with our annex, along with discussion we decided to go with a more discreet look. Here is the front & rear finished, & yes I squirted plenty of mastic in & around the old holes, & the new rivet holes although I used "sealed" rivets. Image to follow

Looks like fun .... How many runs did you get in there .... You'll be amazed at the spots you missed taping when you unmask it too If your going to leave it more than a day before top coating, I'd suggest removing the making tape and re-doing it. It really sucks trying to remove masking tape that has baked on seeya, Shane L.

No runs Shayne, our friend can handle a gun, but I missed a few dents with my prep.I have learnt a lot this week. White completed: Masked up for second colour: Port Side: Starboard Side: Now for re-assemble. The Orange is hard to capture, when the fruit is back on I will pull the van into the sunlight for a better shot.
