Peter hi. Blue tacks are small nails about 10mm long with a flat head about 4mm diameter. You dont have to nip up the screws as the sickaflex will set and hold the window on ---- no need to touch the screws.
The bog is only for the cracks and holes outside (away from window). If you use the tacks so that there is only a slight ripple inthe čladding then the 3mm sikaflex shouldfill in any slight gaps.

Hi Guys, well after getting every thing ready to put the window and frame back in, ive done something really stupid, tried put it back in while grand daughter was here, and making sure she was ok with her mother and ended up screeming and wanting me, i dropped the window and frame on the ground, yes broken glass every where and a wrecked window frame not bloody happy jan so ive opted to put perspex in the rear window instead I new i should have left the van alone until they leave in 3 months Regards Peter

Oh nooes Peter! Maybe that was a sign about what direction to head in with your rear windows. Hopefully no cuts on the culprit.

I am glad my van is 95% done as I have my daughter moved in with me and her 2 girls 3yo and 1yo the 3 yo is a whirlwind and I would hate to be restoring my van with her around. And the questions would do my head in.

Sounds like fixing caravans is a heap easier than Grandkids lol! Luckily mine is "train crazy" so just add cash/ time & visit some steam trains somewhere, or he sits glued to puter searching / watching vids on youtube. (6 years old). Good luck finding those keys. My Arrow has locks with no keys on the door, previous owner spent hours looking, unsuccessfully, for the jockey wheel bolt so i never worried about keys as i figured the 30 nor so years they owned it they were burried deep somewhere on the farm haha. One day i will take the door or van to a locksmith so i can enjoy the luxury of having the inner door closed with the fly screen open with the outer top part hooked into it`s home.

Nothing wrong with perspex. I replaced all my windows with (NOTE: UV TREATED) perspex. Picked up giants sheets of them from perspex wholesalers (they advertise on ebay) at a fraction of the cost of bunnings or hardware stores. They were very cheap and the wholesaler cut them to size-ish so I could fit all sheets in my 4WD (impossible to carry a full sheet on roof-racks).
Been on my van for 12 months now in the full Western Sun (Bris-vagas): cannot tell the difference. Not only that but perspex will not shatter when my children kick a ball into them.
Note: Something I found cutting perspex: it shatters damn easily with electric saws (jigsaw, circular saw, recpricating saw, etc). Found it most effective way to cut (or should I say melt) the sheets was with an angle grinder (cutting blade then grinding the corners to shape).

Looks like no takers. Not sure if this helps, but I rebuilt mine using I did not know what I was doing (I didn't even know how to use an Angle grinder before I started my project)!! Job ended up being fast and easy . There was a full 1cm play (for mistakes) within the frame so it is hard to cut/ grind the window too small. Suspect if you had the parts (if the corner pieces are all that is needed), and took the window to a glazier... maybe they could do it for you.

Forgot about the guide (I used it 12 months ago, and it was right on the money).. Glad you found it!!
The mob there are fantastic... I remember phoning them up 6 months ago - as I was struggling with my 12V water pump/ tank system. They patiently explained it out to me and refunded the incorrect parts that I wrongly ordered.

G`Day Peter, Looking at the modern vans & various forum comments about dust, leaks etc they seem to have done away with rear windows all together, so your plan of just having a see through area sealed off would be ok, depends on what your plans are with air con & visiting warm places though, my rear split window is very handy during steamy wet weather, with no air con or fan inside.Even if some small rain comes through i have now set up a temp plastic sheet so it just runs down to drain onto the alloy floor area, where i can mop it up with a kleenex. (38mm rain in 70 minutes Sunday!) about 2 tablespoons of water blown into van via open windows through fly screen, while i was away. So glad i did not go for a full reno & panels to hide the rear now as while it is not pretty it is very functional & ensures that in 1 -10 years when i hand on the thing to the next owner it will still be intact without rot or damage.
