SWMBO a wants a Perentie first ready for next years event, so that's where my money is heading at the moment - just have to sell a couple of toys to gain a new one so one of the cars and one of the bikes will be made ready for sale which should fund the majority of this. . It will be on ful rego as it will replace the family 'spare' car - an X trail that has served us well but is surplus to requirements. I am guessing a base 4x4 not a 6x6 if to be used around town the only gain with the 6x6 is a turbo and a shipload of problems I have been told by Raeme mates it has been said a 3 dog road train has a smaller turning circle than a 6x6 perentie but then big lizards have never been maneuverable Yep, the 4x4 for a start. I've driven a few 6x6's too and have mates with them - very good to drive, but yes has the turning circle of the QEII. Not sure what issues you are referring to with them though - they are pretty much identical to the 4x4 mechanically. The only differences is the engine is the 4BD1T and it has power steering. Both versions of the Isuzu engine are seriously under stressed in these vehicles and can be made to perform much better at zero cost to reliability. The LT95 gearboxes all have the taper roller conversion on the intermediate shaft of the transfer case, but the 6x6 variant uses the diff lock to engage the back 2 wheels. All pretty simple stuff, and bulletproof reliable. These vehicles are mostly Aussie made as well which most people don't realise. The 4x4 has 50% Aussie made content and the 6x6 has 60% Aussie content making them the most Australian 4x4 ever made after the Oka. Will whack a PS conversion on the 4x4 so SWMBO can go shopping in it but apart from that, it will be completely standard.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Photobucket have recently changed their terms of service and no longer allow linking of photos to forums or other 3rd party sites without paying between $99 and $399 US dollars PER YEAR!!!
Their bots are now chewing through accounts suspending people found doing this with a free account - I've had many friends who's accounts are now being help hostage pending payment.
I've gone one better and deleted all my photos from Photobucket and deleted my account before they are able to hold or my photos for ransom. I have them all on file, but unfortunately all the pics I've ever linked in here are now gone and sorry to say I want be taking the time to relink them from a different site - pics are not going to be forthcoming to this site from now on from me.
Apologies for this, unfortunately if I can't post pics, there's not a lot of point adding much more to my build, so I'll probably be wrapping it up here guys. Thanks for all the kind words, support and help along the way - it's been great.
I'm not signing off, you'll still have to put up with me, but this thread may be finished.

No, had a gutful at the moment - no pics on any site that I can't upload them to for the time being,
I know this place can't do that - I'm not having a go at this or any other place that doesn't - I frequent a lot of them and get a great deal from them. Just ticked of at aresholes who change their terms and conditions to screw over people years after they signed up and were using something legitimately then are held to ransom by some new tight wad that thinks he can make the company a bundle - big news fella - it ain't gunna work...

Hey Snoops. Have u looked in to Tinypic ? That's what I used for my thread (awhile ago). Pete Oh, and while looking at other option found out that Tinypic is owned by Photobucket, so I can guess where that will end up too and I wouldn't give them the satisfaction either. Still looking at other options - there's a few out there. Biggest issue is going back through the 20 plus pages of this thread and reinserting all the pics.

Interesting snoops, I wonder if other photo hosting providers will go the same way (flickr for example). What a pain it is to have to redo the lot, and of course most people wont so theres all these photos that wont appear any longer.

Not sure - Flickr pro costs $50 a year which is about right IMO. $399 a year is just rediculous. I believe they (Photobucket) were in trouble financially anyway - this is just a nail in their coffin as far as I'm concerned.
Yes, mot threads will go without the photos that were on them - a lot of forums auto lock posts after a couple of days so editing old posts is impossible unless you're a Moderator of the site (Thankfully I am on AULRO so I can redo the pics there if I ever find time or a platform that is usable).

Hey Snoops, are there any apps around ( I'm very limited with computers) that can be linked etc to DitzyGipsy ? With all the technology around, you'd reckon there must be an easier way to simply copy/paste photos ? Pete

Software isnt the issue, its who will fork out to store the data. Interestingly, i also use google photos as a backup (auto saves from my phone) but there is no provision to copy the link address to use somewhere else.

It's interesting that I can get vast quantities of free storage in the cloud but not a site that has the facility to link them from a post in a forum. I'm investigating a different solution at the moment that looks feasible but I'm on holidays in Darwin for a couple of weeks. Will post more about this if I manage to do what I set out to - it requires a level of computer competence I don't currently have so I'm having to teach myself a few new tricks and resurrect one of my old PC's as I basically only use my iPhone or iPad now but they won't cut it in this application. Stay tuned....

Ok, still haven't sorted my pictures yet, but I think I may need to as having this thread back with pics will make the van much easier to sell... Yes, my beloved Arrow will be going on the market soon, I just need to finish painting it and a few bits and bobs. Worry not my friends, you don't get rid of me that easy! The sale is to make room for a new project - the lid is still tightly on this one so can't say too much but it is still a 70's van, so stay Tuned!!! That's all I'm saying on the subject until it is back home and that maybe a few weeks or a couple of months depending on a few things. Pretty hard not to be excited but I'll just have to suck it up. SWMBO has given her blessing even though she loves the Franklin too, but sees the upside of what is to come. For those that have seen the photos in this thread before photo fucket ruined them, any ideas what I should be asking for my Franklin? While I don't need want to make a fortune out of it, I don't want to leave this too much money on the table either, I need a good chunk of the sale for the next project. Prices for secondhand vans vary greatly and I've seen some ridiculously high prices being asked for restorations that seem far from perfect, but what they ask and what they get are two different things I suppose. I'll get some pics back up as soon as I can. I've also done some work on it since I last posted - flooring and interior painting, and a little bit of fit and finishing to those few items that work, but weren't quite finished. Any ideas or information greatly recieved as always.

The 101 is great to camp out of, and I have plans for a camper body on it, but making it still look like an original military vehicle - that may be a long way off now as I'm sure I'll be spending a bit of time on the new project in the not too distant future. When I sell the Arrow, I'll need a replacement on the road before Corowa in March, then the Land Rover 70'th at Cooma 2 weeks after that.

Looking forward to this new project. We where in the same boat, having the Millard as our first van and loving it, with all the memories too, but we needed something bigger and hence the Viscount came to being.
As for price its never straight forward... guess the best thing to do is put a price on it that you think it fair but also willing to negotiate a bit, that way you still get a fair price and you sell it too (else it remains unsold!)

Ok, see if this works - just opened a Flickr account - can't get my other solution to work and I've spent too much time trying. Hopefully Flickr don't pull a photofucket on us. There seem to be a huge amount of small jobs to do to finish the van off - one of the things I've been meaning to do is the floor. Hopefully the pics below work but all it is is the cheapest and lightest flooring I could find - Less than $75 for everything you see here. Weight is under 20Kg and as I took nearly 50Kg out when I replaced the bed, I'm sweet with the extra weight here - I left the old floor as it was as it may have asbestos in it, so easier to go straight over it. The edges are sealed with PU and will be painted over - stay tuned, you'll see what I mean, but basically it will mimic the old black skirting that ran around the whole van. Still need to do the following:- - Install front cupboard doors - Finish painting interior - Passenger side J moulds - R&R rear window and get it working (it's clogged up with silicone from the PO) - Paint outside (3 sides to go) - Tidy up wiring (I'm an Electrician, so I can live with a few wires dangling about, but I'm sure the new owner won't appreciate it) - Fit buck converter to radio so it runs off 12 volts - Finish HWS brackets on drawbar and repaint drawbar That should see me being able to put it on the market - But there's a ton of work there - better crack on!!!

That floor looks a treat! You got some work but it will sell quicker. I have found in the past that presentation is everything, being clean, tidy, not necessarily new, but that 'loved' look. Anyway, you got motivation for the other project...

I'm out in the Franklin this weekend - I've dragged it down to the inlaws and it will be here for around a month or so I guess - I've got a few trips to make down here over the next 6 weeks so it's my home away from home for a while. I think on the market before Chrissy is a reasonable guess at the moment.

Ok, time to let the cat out of bag regarding my new project. While you won't see anything happen in the short term as I have the Franklin to finish and sell first, I can reveal that a good friend of mine has had a van for a couple of years that I've always really liked. I first spoke to him about the possibility of purchasing it back in March and bought the subject up again, even getting SWMBO a viewing as in reality if she didn't agree, it wasn't going to happen - we both have to use it after all. Shortly after he agreed to move it on and a price was agreed on. It will still stay where it is for a couple of months I'd guess, but at some stage, the following beauty will be in my driveway (it will fit, I've measured it) So, without further ado, my new van is.... ditzygypsy.proboards.com/thread/3060/micks-viscount-vanI'll put some pics up soon as I see photo buckets got the originals in this thread. Big thanks to Mick for allowing me to become the third owner of this Viscount. Plans are very simple - re seal the windows and J moulds, fit new brakes, install a decent 12 volt system, inverter and water pump - then enjoy it. At some stage the middle bed opposite the kitchen will become an ensuite, but I want to keep it as close to original as possible - the interior is in amazing condition, the chassis and draw bar are solid and only need minor work, and the exterior is a bit unknown yet. Once the lichen is removed and the van washed, I'll be able to determine if it needs repainting - I think it may, and if it does, I'll be getting it sprayed as it really does deserve the best. Looking forward to getting stuck into it, but I can't touch it until the Franklin is gone, so be patient with me.
