Love your work and love the bed base idea. I was thinking about modifying an existing timber bed base I think might be in my parent garage. Now you have given me another idea...
I am no carpenter either (really enjoyed woodwork in high school about 15 years ago though but thats the extent of my knowledge). I think they key is to take your time so you can think everything through.
