Hi, Does anyone know what is wrong with a window winder if it drips water to the inside? Everything looks OK from the outside and not sure if we should try to pull it apart - or do we just need new ones?
Thanks.
Linda and Peter.

caravansplus.com.au/catalog/help-window_repair.phpThis may be of some use. If the window it self is sealed the only other way water can enter is via the Windout Window Link Box (image A1 in the above Link) that is the Plastic protrusion pop riveted to the outside of the window. If the two pop rivets come loose then water can enter behind the link box, and/or around the rivets. Reading / doing research the reason put forward is the rivets get strained when the windows are forced when trying to open the window when locked. So check that the link box is secure. Rattles

I have the same problem with the Starlite windows on my Viscount. In heavy rain water leaks into the winder box (and subsquently drips onto the internal walls & bedding!. It affects two of the windows (both happen to be on a slant). I have replaced all of the seals, and am willing to ty anything to fix the leaks!! I'll have a closer look at the link boxes tomorrow.

Hi, We checked out the link boxes, and they are all good - but on closer inspection, it seems there is a split in the rubber seal around the outside, so off to the local rubber shop to see if they can match it...

Howdy Linpet,
The Link Box's, may look good from the out-side but, the inside is the secret, there is a seal on the inner side that the winder arm slides through, over time this seal can go hard and not do the job it was designed for, hence leaking.
The link box's are available from Camec and Caravans plus, I would suggest you remove all link box's and replace them,
be sure to measure the distance between the holes for the holding rivets on the box's and get the right length box's as they were made in two sizes.
cheers kiwijim ;D

some times the leak is not the window as a leak further up may be letting water in and it runs down to the window .so on a ladder and seal anything that looks like a problem if it had a recent sail track added in the last few years water may be getting through the screw holes good luck greedy

UPDATE! Having put in everything new in the windows that is possible to buy, and extra silicone over everything, and the ##@@** things still leaking - I finally tracked down the window leak problem and hope this may help others! I took one of the brand new window boxes apart and used a syringe with water in it to direct at each part outside the window, and watched carefully from the inside, and found that the little end plugs at the top of the window rails (the plugs that keep the window in place on each end) allowed water to pass thru (yes, we had put new ones of them in too in desperation). So I put a bit of silicone to seal these ends - AND IT WORKED - NO MORE LEAK!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I have the same problem with a starlite window. I believe it leaks in through the winder box. Theres a small gap in the weather seal at the top. It looks like water trickles around the hinge just above the weather seal, then makes its way down the winder rod then through the winder box and drips onto the interior window sill.
I have sealed the window end plugs with silicon. I have sealed the pop rivets that attach the winder rod to the window with silicon. I have replaced the winder boxes. And it still leaks!
My next theory is that maybe I should put some sealant between the window winder box and the frame. My theory is that the water coming out of the weep hole in the winder box is dripping between the window frame and the winder box. Is it normal to put sealant here? What kind of sealant should I use? Clear silicon?
Any advice or other suggestions would be appreciated
Cheers - young_dazza
