Ha! I knew someone would say Sheffied in Tassie, because that's exactly what it reminded me of when I saw it. But no, not in Tassie.

G'day kiwijim,
Yep, looks like only you and me playing this game. Nobody else seems to know where this mural is.
(Dunno what's happened to atog of late. Gone AWOL??)
Your guess of Tenterfield was not a bad guess. Not right, but not a bad guess. There's a major road leads from Tenterfield to the east coast. The next major town east of Tenterfield is the same name as somewhere where you'd go to do a bit of gambling. Go north from that town on the Summerland [High]Way. (Actually, you don't get to see the mural going north, but the location is in another town north of that 'gambling' town.)
cheers, Al.

Ha Ha Ha! Good one, Phil! ;D Didja like my little hint in my last post?? "...you can ogle the mural to your heart's content..." Geddit?? ogle, as in Kyogle! ;D (Well, I thought it was clever, anyway! ) Yep, Kyogle, on the Summerland Way in northern NSW. A very nice alternative drive into SE Qld from NSW. A bit of winding road through a mountain range; a few timber loggers to keep your wits about you as you drive; some very nice scenery. We towed the Millard through there no probs at all. Anyhoo, yep the mural is on the side of the Mitre 10 Hardware store on the main street of Kyogle, and recognises the contribution of the farming community to the development of this area. It's the only mural in town that I'm aware of. Here's the full picture, showing its size... And down in the bottom right hand corner is the artist details and location of the mural... Well done, Phil. Over to you! cheers, Al.

Before Phil jumps in with his next offering, I wanted to add some information... The major town east of Tenterfield, with the gambling-sounding name is... Casino. We stayed at the Casino Village RV Resort for one night on the way home. This resort is a massive complex with areas for short stay and long stay caravan trips, as well as permanent housing down one side of the land. (It used to be the Casino airport, so you can imagine how big this property is.) We had a walk around the residential area for a bit of a look-see, and were impressed with the concept. Large manufactured homes, with heaps of space under a carport to park the Winnebago (saw them!) or large caravan. The beauty of this set-up is that if you wanted to hit the road, the Park management looks after your property while you're away (it's a gated park). Certainly seemed an ideal way to spend your retirement years instead of in a retirement village. Lots of groups and activities held around the park if people were interested in participating. Something happening every day. This photo is taken from their website, but doesn't show the carport parking space clearly, however you can see by the length of the house roofs that the carport is quite long and roomy... It's the first time I've come across a complex like this, but I can see it being the way of the future. There was a bit of "breathing space" between each home, so you didn't feel like you were living on top of your next door neighbours, unlike a lot of manufactured home parks that plonk them up against each other. We were very impressed with the way this park had been developed. Anyway, enough of the free advertising... On with the show, Phil!! ;D cheers, Al.

G'day Al. I understood the reference to Casino but was not awake enough to get the ogle with a k. And Hi to everyone - here is an old postcard of somewhere everyone knows - had to blank some words - couldn't think of any other photos - especially since everyone would have recognised the "3 sisters" Cheers. Well, well, well... atog is ALIVE!! ;D ;D And working on his long-term hobby of finding a way to straighten bananas! Good to hear you're still kickin' along, atog. -------------------------------------------------- G'day Phil, Picked this one straight away. Was gonna go for Alice Springs originally, but one of the cars in the foreground gave it away. Yep, it's somewhere near Kings Cross in Sydney, right?? And not a caravan in sight either. Wassamatta, didn't they have grey nomads back then?? cheers, Al.

Spot on ;D
The theatre left of centre had "Kings Cross Theatre" where the blockout is and Brunswick Street (sorry, meant Darlinghurst) as the title that was blocked out.
Your Turn.
Cheers.

Howdy Al, Looks like you have everyone stumped with that photo, I would guess it's some-where in lower N.S.W. Probably a park where Dads go for a ride on a small train and if there is room the kids can come along too. ;D ;D ;D kiwijim

Gees, I thought everyone must have packed up and gone away for Easter! Coulda fired a canon on the forum last few days and not hit anyone!! But lo and behold, there's still life in the ol' forum yet! Good guesses, guys, but too far north. Have to go down into Mexico and well east of Melbourne. We were travelling through this town and decided to stop at the main park for lunch. Managed to park the van on the side of the highway and unload the table and chairs just inside the park nearby. While we were eating, we could hear the noise of lots of activity from over on the other side of the park. After lunch we went for a stroll to see what all the fuss was about. We came across this whole model railway complex set up on one side of the park. They only operate on the fourth Sunday of each month, so it was a stroke of good fortune that we stopped on that day. An amazing effort has gone into setting up the complex. Some brilliant work has been done by people to build scale model engines, and then give rides to people around the tracks. The group has been operating since 1978, so they've been around for a long, long, time. And yes, they have their own website. Does that help?? cheers, Al.

hmmm.
There are a couple of places around that this activity occurs.
1st to come to mind is Moorabbin. off near East Boundry road. pretty sure you would not have been able to park the car and van nearby.
East Burwood or is it Box Hill. Only ever seen it in operation once. Man that was a long time ago.
Absolutley amazing the number of places that cater for people with train fetishes. Every size from N guage, ride on home built to the real deal full size stuff
