Hi all. I have an ACT Cruiser pop up camper. I'm finding it very difficult to set it up by myself and impossible to take down alone. Does anyone have any suggestions as to whether or not this camper can be handled by one person? I'm 75 years old and I don't have enough strength to handle this beast alone. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi Waltzingmatilda I'm also in my 70s & I share your plight for diminishing strength. Any camper needing a push up & down will continually be difficult, do yourself a favour & buy a small full van or at least a gas assisted pop top. Cheers Mustang ACT link

Thank you. I totally agree with you. I'm looking for a wind up pop up camper. I'm pretty restricted by weight though as I have a 26 year old Toyota Camry. I think an older Jayco Finch or Avan Sportliner would be good. They are hard to find here in Tassie for an affordable price though.

Victoria is not far away with a state full of vans, you could save the Spirit of Tas fare with your savings. Good Hunting Mustang

Hi all.I am the proud owner of a 1975 ACT Cruiser, and at 77 years young I also had problems lifting the roof. I fitted gas struts on each arm and problem solved. I will have to recruit some help to post photos of the setup at which time I will post details of the struts and relevant measurements. Be patient. Cheers.
