Hi everyone, just thought i would introduce myself and my newly acquired project. Its a 1976 Viscount Royal 13 foot caravan (thanks for the information in this forum for me working that out).
I picked it up off an old lady who just wanted it gone from her yard for $500, it had been used as a storage shed but with a couple broken windows and a long lost door key (they just had it opened and the latch locked open) all the inside was completely perished.
This is the outside as i picked it up.
After a Clean
If interested i will keep uploading pics and videos of my restoration.

G'day madaussie, and welcome to the forum.😁
Heck, you've done extremely well getting a van like this for a cheap price!😎 Amazing the difference after a good wash. It seems like the cladding is in quite good condition, so how bad is the interior?
Can you add the chassis number into a post so we have confirmation of the year of build please? It helps with our collection of information.
Yes, we enjoy seeing all the restoration stories on the forum, so post updates often, as you work your way through the project.
Cheers, Al.

The interior was bad, it was left open to the weather. My little helper

Now its time to do some research and create a parts list, I should be able to lift the floor fairly easily. I was going to leave some of the lining in at least for now until I have all the bits i need to reline it in 1 go. Not sure if I am too worried about it moving around without the lining if i remove it all ? Chassis 76 viscount. by Keith Turnbull, on Flickr

I've had my '73 Viscount stripped out for almost 3 yrs now, even moved house with it (braced and new floor in), no problems. Here's a link to my very slow going project due to stopping to rebuild another 'van 1973 Viscount Ambassador This is my other one 1972 York

Try to take lining out complete as you can use it for templates will make it easier for you to put back together mine were a little bit of guess work as they had in bits but I wrote down what position it came from and stored them until I needed them. we have seen worst mine was one so have fun as most here are am would be interested to watch your progress.

Hey Madaussie, welcome to the forum.
Just a tip if you havent already, its a good idea to put axle stands under the walls roughly central between the wheels and front and wheels and back on both sides before trying to remove the floor. this way if the frame is rotten it wont have far to fall if it does. i didnt do this with my scenic and the result was pretty catastrophic

Hi Madaussie, what a great pick up! We paid $100 for our 13ft "Purple Reign" 76 Royal just over 3 years ago. Yours gutted reminds me of what our ours looked like when I brought it home. It's all finished now and getting lots of use. Attended Wang nationals, Bridgewater weekend, and a several other old caravan glamping events, and also landed a feature in Time to Roam magazine - so a whole lot of fun can be packed into 13 feet! Window & door hardware (hinges, latches, winders, etc) was our biggest stumbling block because new parts are no longer available for 73 - 78 Viscounts so you may need to improvise or track down secondhand parts if you need any of those items. Just be aware that the floor tiles and external mastic sealant will almost certainly contain asbestos - stay safe! Good luck with your project! Cheers, Arthur
