howdy all
the 2020 nationals have been announced to be at victor harbour sa, may 1st to 8th.
Invitation to the
2020 VINTAGE CARAVAN NATIONALS
NRMA Victor Harbor Beachfront Holiday Park, 114 Victoria Street, Victor Harbor, South Australia
Friday, 1 May to Friday, 8 May 202
Venue
The NRMA Victor Harbor Beachfront Holiday Park was awarded the 2017 Silver Medal in the South Australian Tourism Industry Awards and is set on absolute beachfront facing the Great Australian Bight, and is bounded on another side by the Inman River. The Park is within easy walking distance of the centre of Victor Harbor, Granite Island and the historical precinct. Victor Harbor is located on the Fleurieu Peninsula, 85 km south of Adelaide. There are lots of interesting things to do around the town and the surrounding region. Victor Harbor is a short distance away by car from Goolwa, the Coorong and mouth of the Murray. The McClaren Vale wine district is also only a few kilometres away. More information about Victor Harbor can be found here.
Accommodation at the park includes:
200 powered grassy site
16 ensuite sites
A number of cabins and villas accommodating from 2 to 6 people
Two camp kitchens, a TV/games room, electric BBQ's, solar heated swimming pool, children's playground and free WiFi
For more information about the caravan park and its facilities go to the Holiday Park website here. See also the map at the end of this post.
Pets?
YES, the NRMA Victor Harbor Beachfront Holiday Park is pet friendly, so you are welcome to bring your canine companion, subject of course to the usual caravan park conditions.
Who can attend?
The Nationals are mainly intended as an Australia-wide get together for forum members and others with Vintage Caravans. BUT keep reading, because we are aware that some forum members have classic caravans, and that other V V’ers like to attend events with friends who come in non-vintage vans. Other people come because they have an interest in vintage or older caravans, or want to be inspired by seeing 100+ vintage caravans together all in one place. All such people are very welcome to attend. The Nationals are partly about creating a spectacle of vintage vanning, but we don't wish to exclude anyone who would like to attend.
An option for those attending without a Vintage Caravan is to book a cabin or villa.
We encourage everyone to come to the Nationals for the full week so that we can have the opportunity to meet each other, admire each others' caravans, and participate in the program of activities. However, you are still very welcome to attend even if you can only come for a few days due to work or other commitments.
How do I book?
150 sites in a block have been set aside for the Vintage Caravan Nationals. Bookings can be made at any time from now and a site is guaranteed up to 3 months prior to the event. After 1 March 2020, bookings will depend upon the availability of sites, and the sites allocated may not be within the main group of vintage vans.
To book a site for the Nationals, contact the Holiday Park by ringing 1800 609 079; or by email victorharbor@nrmaparksandresorts.com.au
IMPORTANT: Please tell the Park that you are with the "Vintage Caravan Nationals" group, and provide your forum name if you have one.
Additionally, if you are booking by email, please include your phone number and the length of your caravan.
Cost:
$26 per night for a powered site for two people. This is a special price offered to people attending the Vintage Caravan Nationals, and includes the automobile club discount.
Deposit of $50 per booking.
Extra adults (16+ years) are $15 per night; extra children 4-16 years are $10 per night; children under 4 years are free.
For prices for ensuite caravan sites, cabins or villas, please contact the Holiday Park.
Cancellation policy:
The Holiday Park's cancellation policy is:
> Cancellations more than 14 days before the event - fees returned, less $30 administration fee
> Cancellations 14 days or less before the event - total deposit forfeited
Program
The organisers of the Nationals are working on creating an exciting program of activities for the week. A full program and more information about the additional activities will be announced closer to the Nationals. Keep a watch on this section of the forum for more details and/or activity booking details.
What do I need to do now?
If you intend to come to the 2020 V V Nationals, we suggest that you book as soon as possible!
1. Ring the NRMA Victor Harbor Beachfront Holiday Park to book your site (see contact details above).
2. When you book your site please give the Holiday Park staff your forum name if you have one.
3. Place a post on this thread letting us know that you’ve booked. Alternatively if you don't wish to broadcast that you will be away from home, please PM Moparman.
The purpose of steps 2 and 3 is to assist the organisers with their planning, and so that the organisers and the caravan park managers can reconcile their records of who’s booked and who hasn’t.
Are there any tours being organised before or after the Nationals?
As happened at previous Nationals, we hope that tours to and from the Nationals will be organised by various forum members. If you are interested in organising or joining a convoy or a tour to or from the Nationals, or looking for some other vintage vanners to travel with, post on this thread with a suggested starting and/or ending point. A separate thread will be set up for each tour once it is arranged or proposed.
How can I help?
The Nationals organising team will welcome offers of assistance from people willing to help with the arrangements for the various National activities, and Nationals memorabilia. Thanks to those who have already offered assistance; we will be in contact with you soon. If you would also like to assist, please PM Moparman or Don Ricardo.
Any questions?
If you have any questions about the 2020 Vintage Caravan Nationals, please feel free to post them on this thread or PM one of the forum moderators.
We look forward to seeing you at the 2020 Nationals
