This story relates to the launch of the R.V.M.A.A. plaque/badge program in February 1977... The number on wahroonga's badge above would appear to be just the number of badges issued at that point. A badge number closer to zero would indicate the van was made closer to March 1977. I have no information to say how many badges were issued, or for how long the program continued. My guess is that with the collapse of the caravan industry, that started during 1978 and was in deep touble by mid-1979, the badge program may have fizzled out.

I had a look at a 'recent' Winnebago in a local carpark today, and it had the RVMAA badge beside the door. The badge looked to be made of flat aluminium sheet with the design lithographed (painted) on the surface. The shape and design was basically the same as the ones above, but with a slight difference in the top half, where it had a symbol with a road centre line veering off to one side. The colours in the design were red, black, and white, and there was no serial number on the badge.
The RVMAA has recently (2009?) adopted a new shape and design for the "Seal of Approval" badge. It is now round, and the four symbols of the different vehicles are no longer on it.

Our Viscount 1977 has 013135, apparently the dealer number, would be good to know where your van was sold from.

Hi I'm pretty sure the number on the badge, is not a dealers numbers as the badges are put on by the manufacturers while in production. Plus I have yet to see any 2 badges with the same number. It would be interesting to know why they all have numbers, what information was kept and by whom.
Cheers

Hi Lockyer,
So would that mean they were in sequence of build numbers? Perhaps ours is the 13 thousandth, one hundred & thirty fifth van made by Viscount?
Hey Andy, your badge is in great order. Cheers brent

Hi Brent, No one knows if they are in sequence, more like the badges would have been in batches of 50 or a 100 in a box and a box would have been on each production line for each manufacturer. RVMAA = Recreational Vehicle Manufacturing Association of Australia. So any manufacturer who paid there due's would be able to attach a badge to there van/s. So how many manufacturers where there and how many production lines would they have going per manufacturer = ? Cheers Lawrence PS there is a couple of Millard pop tops vans with these badges on here, and there numbers are 1000,s apart and I don't think they made that many of them to start with.
