Back when I was in high school we had a box filled with plastic flakes/powder, then we heated the metal with a flame and then dipped the metal into the plastic. It was quite easy to do however I'm not sure where you can buy the plastic flakes from? There are companies out there that can do it for you, such as this one in WA: www.bayswaterplasticcoaters.com.au/plastic-coating/Cheers

Powder coating should suffice.

Update.....
Well time to sort out the fridge door so I started trying to remove the plastic paint using a wire brush, it was working but very slow and didn't get into the nooks and crannies, so I build a small fire and melted it off, then using the wire brush and cordless drill cleaned it up. Will go into Bunnings and see if I can find the stuff Greedy is talking about.

You could try plastidip. Dipped it gives a coating a couple of mm thick, I've never tried spraying it though.
www.plastidip.net.au/category/plasti-dipProfessional powder coating would probably be the best answer though. Tim

Did search and that was 2006 his site link not working now, BUT a local one to get a quote from your way. Toowoomba

Good to see the locals being listened to at the Grantham Floods Enquiry. But what will it achieve, all it has done and while they continue to look to blame someone, is drag the area down. Property values there are gone and banks won't touch the place.......
In 96' there was a big flood and residents here went down and took photo's of the flood water halfway up the land sale sign and it was in the local and Brisbane media, 2 weeks later the developers pulled that sign down and mowed the land that was still for sale and told the local council It would not be finishing the rest of the stages, yet not one property in that area got flooded ! In 2006 some vacant land was sold by auction for $8000.00, dozens of resident sold out at a loss and the area became run down because sales stopped. It took another 2 years (2008) before builders came in buying up the cheap land to build spec homes on, today it is totally build out and values are normal for the area, but as soon as anyone mentions the word flood now plenty of long time locals let them know, very quickly what happened in 96'.
And that sign was on an intersection 600-700m away from the start of the estate which is up a hill, right beside a bridge with a sign that states "Bridge subject to flooding"
