Hey everyone, We have been thinking of going to Nelligen for this event. ;D ;D ;D This is late notice for anyone else, but thought we'd do it anyway. They have been organising it since last August '10. At the same time as the VV get-together, there is a 50's car Cruise event that is on at the same time there. (A type of "Classic Restoes" thing for cars.) Also at the same time for us personally is a special family event on the Sunday 13Feb. vintagecaravans.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=runevent1&action=display&thread=6698#There are coming from The South Coast, Canberra, Newcastle... Nelligen is on the Clyde River about 30km upriver from Batemans Bay. There is some loose talk of spending the Sunday night back at Coledale. Vintage vanners were very welcoming when we attended one of their events in 2009 at Coledale. ;D ;D ;D I still have to get my electric brakes on the van working,... before we can go but I'm hopeful!! We've paid good money today to book in, and the operators of the park say they still have unpowered sites available as of today. So, if you're inclined, why not turn up? It may just be a good weekend! ;D ;D ;D See link above. It also has the park booking ph No. Cheers ;D ;D ;D mike

Greetings everyone, ;D ;D ;D Electric Brake repairs progressing well: the car control unit working well. Testing this was a bit tricky, because the red led light could be turned ON [and indicating the van brakes were working] by manually pushing the thumb slide across to the left. That is deceptive and lead me to think the elec brakes on the van would work... even if the car's engine had stalled???!!! The engine has to be running for the van electric brakes to work. No I haven't been turning the engine OFF and coasting along thinking I could use the van brakes.. I know what you're thinking.. 'bit of a dumbo here...' The van brakes should have been working [ because the red led indicator on the control unit would come on], but were clearly not working when I braked the car. Anyhow I'll post the repair details on these electric brakes elsewhere in the proper section of this forum when I get it finished ... but I'm not working on it today... Its 41C at present in Sydney. Correction: the distance from the roundabout turnoff at the Princes Highway, Batemans Bay, to Nelligen is 9km not 30km. We're still intending to go despite our family event now being OFF. Should be a good weekend away, fishing the river, maybe a bit of kayaking, campfire stories, book-reading, ... Cheers ;D ;D ;D mike

Greetings everyone, ;D ;D ;D A quick follow-up to this event... There was no mobile or internet signal at all in Nelligen, so this is a bit late. The event was a HOT ROD and Custom car show coupled with vintage vans to stay in. (It wasn't quite our cup of tea, but the skill and craft of these guys was to be marveled at.) Some photos of the vehicles we liked... Loved this EH Holden 1964 Premier Another EH Holden Premier '64 same colour This is a classic '56 Pontiac How about the workmanship involved in restoring this Globetrotter ply van and '36 Ford with colour matching... This little 7 footer ply van reminded us of our first van which was this size but was painted white aluminium bought new in April 1970; a Newlands van... it had a double bed and 2 bunks..... This was actually a new Roadstar Reo built to a retro-ply style Finally, this interesting fibreglass van was well preserved and cared for... Cheers ;D ;D ;D mike

Hi Mike,
The 56 pontiac looks very much like a 1957 Chevrolet Belair ;D
Nice photo's!
