G'day hardluckhotel, Certainly your van seems to be an Australian-made product, and also seems to be from the later 1970s when sliding windows made an appearance. Looking today at caravans on ebay, there is an English Dorset caravan up for sale in Victoria... This particular Dorset Abbey County van is from 1998, well after yours would have been made. I also note in a Google search that Bayswater RVs are located at 575 Dorset Road, Bayswater Nth., Vic, so I'm wondering if the faded word on your van relates to this dealer rather than the brand of your van? cheers, Al.

Hi Hardluckhotel
More photos please.
The more I think about what you have it looks a little like one some long gone (dec'd) friends owned except it was called a "rambler" and was not white more a yellow. Have started hunting but I am not sure if I have any photos of it.
Even the chassis no might help...
I doubt it has come from Bayswater RV's they are relatively new on the block BUT around the corner in Canterbury Rd, is another collection of dealers. Caravans have been sold at that location for a real long time and it is possible it may have come from there.
Always a challenge to find out who built what. Even today some of the caravans being manufactured are branded differently by which ever the dealer is selling it. Dealersgenerally put there own unique touches to them, My guess is this practice has been going on for a real long time.
It looks a bit of alright from this angle.

Hi hardluck, your van looks like an early Windsor or Hacienda pop top.If you can put up some interior shots i will be able to tell from them.Hacienda had fancy tiled splashbacks in the kitchen, which yours still might have. Cheers hughdeani

Hey hughdeani...welcome to the "dark side"! ;D ;D Startin' ta feel a bit OLD over on the Vintage forum, eh?! Better you should join the younger ones over here on the Classic forum! I was looking at vans on the Trading Post website tonight, and I happened to come across a van that looks similar to hlh's. This one is a 1978 "Scenic" 18ft poptop... It's a bit hard to see the roof-line clearly, because they've got some panels either end, but the window ends seem to be similar in shape. When I was at the Mildura Vintage Nationals, I photographed a full-size Scenic van in the park. Similar end shape. The chassis number on the Mildura van was N7721, so hlh could check if his is something like that number. Underneath the word Scenic on the logo is the word Dandenong, and a phone number. Cheers, Al. (Franklin1 on the V.V forum )
