Hi all Well this is a landmark day for me I only joined the forum 4 days ago and stumbled onto a great buy 2 days ago can’t wait to get it home The van in question is supposed to be a 1970 viscount is 14 ft long and has been stuck in a farm shed for the last 20-25 years untouched, an absolute time capsule. So I am wondering if anyone could help with info on the year model it has 2 yellow flashes down each side and has a chassis no of S552 on the l/h side of the A frame Any help greatly appreciated

This paintwork was used from 1968-71 Approx 1970 Viscounts and Ambassadors - The chassis number doesn't quite gel with a Viscount issued number as they used A E or C (with an F if Fibreglass) for around that timeframe. Do you have a photo of the van and number please?

Ok sorry folks Bloody dislexia , got the van home safe turns out after cleaning 25 years of dirt off the van it is actually a valiant with the chassis no c552 from what I read on the vintage van site it sounds like a 1968 but having found its original gas bottle in the shed where it was stored it says viscount and is date stamped 7/ 70

New member here and hoping someone can answer my query.
Planning to buy a viscount supreme. But the problem they can’t locate the chassis number. Not stamped on the draw bar. Any idea to where they can find it? I would like to attach a photo for identification but don’t know how.

I managed to find the thread on how to attach an image. Owner said that they can't find the chassis number. Not in the draw bar.

Gday Muz .... I notice that the van still has the rego plate on it maybe ask at the transport department in the state that the plate is from for previous details . The chassis number is usually on the drawbar but can sometimes be found inside cupboards, under tables or attached to original internal cushions. Also if the van has had gas installed originally there used to be a plate on the drawbar as well Good luck with it mate Andy

Hi Muz, looks like a 76 model to me. There could be a small matchbox size chassis number tag tacked up under the chassis rail just forward of the front door and about 40cms in from the outer wall - that was common factory practice for mid 70's models. You'll need to crawl underneath to find it. I'm guessing that someone replaced the drawbar at some stage and didn't bother to add the chassis number?
