5th November to 8th November, 2020 - Strewth, ya gotta come and have a rippa bonza of a time at the next SEQ Mob Xmas shindig, at a beaut bottler spot - Kenilworth Showgrounds, where you can put your feet up under some shady trees while you have a coldie. Come for 1, 2 or 3 nights, whatever you can get away for.
The theme - 'Australiana' - Bring good flip flops for the Saturday night dance (and an extra pair in case you have a blow out).
The Grub - Saturday Night from 6pm - Pot Luck tucker - bring a plate of food for the shared table, in the downstairs dining room. There is a large fridge and 2 ovens if needed to be used on the Saturday only. All other meals self catered - there are lovely cafes in town and a bakery and a pizza shop. Suggestions for Friday night - The Pub is a short walk, or the Bowls Club do home cooked food but is a bit further to walk, or you could bang a banger on a barbie or make a sanga.
The entertainment for ya ears- The One and Only Infamous U Beaut DJ - Tim Fylnn with Emma-Lee Bowman will rock your socks off so you can boogie the Saturday night away.
The entertainment for ya funny bone - Our Dinky Di games organizer extraordinaire - Jacqui Moore will have some ridgy-didge games.
Ilsa's Table - Saturday from 2pm - As per the tradition - bring an item per person to donate to the table, so everyone gets a pick at it.
The bang for ya buck - There will be a $5 per adult surcharge to cover hall hire and entertainment. Camping fees (EFTPOS is available) are per couple $20/night powered, $15/night unpowered, or $18 Pwr/$13 Unpwr for 1 person, and $6 per extra person over 13yo. Plenty of power and water connections, but bring long leads just in case. (fees are reviewed in April and I will update if they change) ***SHOWERS ARE $1 coin operated for 4 minutes ***
You can bring ya best mate - Dogs on lead or in enclosures (the caretakers are VERY strict), plus all the usual rules.
Getting There - I will post a map showing the roads NOT SUITABLE FOR CARAVANS highlighted, so if your GPS tries to take you those ways - DON'T DO IT!!!! Basically, avoid Aherns Road and Obi Obi Road and any road that takes you via these 2 roads. All other roads are doable in a caravan.
General stuff:
- Bring ya cossie - there is a Public Swimming pool about 50 metres from our camp area - entrance fees apply, am told you can get a day pass.
- An easy walk, maybe 8-900m, thru the grounds and along a communal track, you can get down to the Mary River (at moment very shallow), great to wet your feet or give your dogs a cooling down.
- Town is an easy stroll, maybe 200m, has pub, chemist, newsagent, bakery, BP servo, Bottlo, Grocery shop, Post Office, Op shop + eateries.
- The original Eumundi Markets are on Saturday morning if anyone fancies a 30min (33k) drive to get there.
- The Cheese factory is to left before shops - great selection of cheeses, ice creams, sauces, and other products.
- There is an Historical Village, that will do group tours at $4/p if you book and have 5+ people
- The Woodworks Gallery is off Obi Obi Road, if you go to the Eumindi Markets, you might like to detour on way back and have a look.
- Cinema Works will put on a 2 hour show, if you book a group of 10+ people at $10 per head - I am told it is well worth going, if this is of interest and you can get a willing group.
Numbers would be appreciated at least 1 week prior. So please comment below if you are going, and if anything changes PLEASE let me know. I will look at the feasibility of collecting the surcharge ($5/pp) about 2 months prior, so we have a better idea of numbers and can cover costs this time, and it will only be refundable if you let us know at least by the 4th November if you can't come.
See you there - you'd be crackers to miss it.
(Note: if you want this event posted in another group, please PM me first, as events created by other people in other groups on facebook don't permit me to contact people who are coming)
