Hi I have just purchased a york van and can't find the vin number, all I have at the moment is the number on the chassis, can you tell how old it is from that please

Hi Nic, welcome to the forum. The chassis number should be on the draw bar - welded in a running bead, not on a plate like modern vans. Not sure about Yorks but most older vans have a letter then 4 or sometimes 5 numbers after that.
Someone more familiar with the York vans may be along to help too.
Maybe a couple of pics would also give us some clues.

I think you find York van is before the need have a VIN Plate.

VIN's didn't start until around 1988. Your York was made at least 10 years before that? Sometimes VIN's are issued to older caravans when they have been off the road for sometime and then get re-registered. Post the chassis number and I'll look up Shelley's list to see were it slots in...or maybe Shelley will be along soon with an answer? Cheers an happy Yorking, Arthur
