Hello All
First post so please be kind. I am renovating a 1976 Millard van and have completed the inside. Am now trying to figure out how to attach a 4WD vehicle annexe (similar to the ones sold by Kings, Dune4WD etc etc) to the outside of the van. I am considering using the 90 degree brackets that come with the annexe by tec screwing them down onto the roof of the van and then pop riveting a small aluminium strip above the annexe as I will not be able to get a complete flush finish with the wall if I use the mounting bracket supplied. Has anyone either: fitted a similar annexe to their van OR have any advice/suggestions as to any other way to fit OR any comment that may be helpful?
I am not sure of what the frame of the van looks like as most of the walls were just sheeted over existing walls so any advice re frame points in the roof that I might be able to screw into would also be very much appreciated.

I would not use any fixings through the roof as flexing will cause leaks, as you have finished the inside it is a bit late to reinforce the fixing points, only solution would to use a plate on the inside with 2 bolts each side of a wall stud, if you are lucky inside a overhead cupboard will line up with the mounting points of the 4wd annex or extra holes drilled annex frame. My 1980 Viscount had a wooden noggins for the mounting of the awning.

Welcome to the forum. Most of those awnings have slots all the way down the mounting rail to allow connection at any point - this would allow the fixings to be hidden/line up with a wall stud. As mentioned, I wouldn't be in a hurry to screw it to the roof to be honest.
