Hi there I popped my camper up this week after what felt like a long winter, only to discover to my horror a mouldy, wet mess. The queen bed mattress was soaked and pull out bed base saturated. Bed base ok, mattress ruined. But possibly more worrying is the celing is very stained and damaged from the water. It really looks like its going to need replacing. Does anyone have any experience replacing a celing of a jayco Dove, circa 2004? Does it require above average technical skills and tools?? Is it complicated and more than just unscrewing it and levering out staples? Is it also glued? Thanks, any help appreciated.

Gidday outdoortype
Nothingvis impossible if you have the right mindset, determination and tme. Take a look at some of the restoration work carried out under the "Hall of Fame"
Depending on where the water is coming in on yours you may need a total rebuild or just a bit of resealing around a couple of seams. A little bitvof water gettong in can do a lot of damage.
Have alook at the Threafs on here and have a close look at your roof and see if you can work out where the water is getting in. Go hunting for water stains around your ceiling.

Thanks bobt. I was nervous about pulling off the damaged ceiling in case I was in over my head and couldn't replace i. I didn't want to have to shell out $1000s to finish off a job I shouldn't have started! From what can I see here, I don't need to be a professional caravan repairer to pull the ceiling off, find the leak and replace it, so I'm going to give it a crack. I can only see one thread about someone replacing a ceiling on a jayco, but it's a good one. Any other threads you can point me too with advice? Thanks.

unfortunately looks like the pics are gone. In the techno section there are treads to help you decide what products you can use to seal your roof may be a good idea to seal other edges of van while you are at it. with luck the frame isn't damaged and the most you have to do is seal and clean up all the best if you have questions or just ask on here I'm sure some one here can help with advise put up pics with your questions will often make your questions clear . If you haven't done it remove wet material IE mattress bedding etc and let air you don't want mold in there. If mold has started clean with mold products of choice before starting work wear face masks to protect your health. Have fun if you take it slowly and think it out you shouldn't have a problem.
