Hi, Firstly what a great site with lots of information. Wish I had found it a long time ago. we are selling our 12ft 1986 Millard caravan. The problem we are having is that there is no compliance plate and this seems to bother some people. My understanding is that it wasn’t a requirement to have compliance plates before 1988 is that correct. We are going on what the previous owners told us and that is the ATM is around 1100. Going on the rego papers the Tare is 650 and ATM 749 but I suspect that has something to do with not needing brakes which the caravan does have. Before I painted her you could just make out the Series 80 on each side. Another question asked is does it have an aluminium frame. We tried getting info from Millard but no luck. Any information given would be greatly appreciated. I hope I uploaded the picture of Milly correctly. thank you Ann 27078B29-A48A-4898-9A88-57D93B0493AC by Ann Stoodley, on Flickr

Hi Ann, Your van is a series 80 Millard that came out in 1979 -80. It has an aluminium frame and would have electric brakes,as I think that model had them as standard,a picture of your coupling will show me. The weight is more likely to be around 750-900 kg tare. You would not get any help from Millard,as they are a totally different company that made series 80. Hope this helps Cheers hughdeany

Thanks hughdeany. Our rego clearly says 1986 but do you think it is older than that? Chassis number is 80735. Thanks for the info about the aluminium frame. Regards Ann

Hi Ann, Yes it’s definitely not 1986,after yours came the series 2000 then the LP models, Rego papers are often inaccurate,as sometimes owners have no idea and you can put down any age you like,or sometimes if age unknown it comes up on your appears as 1900. If you google series 80 you will see all the models like yours and then the later ones. Cheers Hughdeany

Looking at this thread it seems the 80 series (starting late 1970s) is a mystery.

Going to jump in here as I collate the Millard chassis numbers. 80735 is from 1979, I have a few confirmed dates from around yours - 80587 found 13/3/79 written behind a panel and 81678 has 7/1979 on their original gas plate.

I appreciated all of the information this thread provided when I went to insure Milly (80735) and the insurer didn't believe what I was telling them. Thank you very much! I can confirm a manufacture date of March 1979 (one to add to your list @twocutekelpies ) and that it does indeed have electric brakes (I recently had both brake assemblies replaced) and an aluminium frame hughdeany IMG_20230525_135506 by David Gale, on Flickr
