I am after an exterior oyster light that was fitted to most caravan from the 60's. 70's and 80's. The brand of it is more than likely Kempthorne, but there could be other brands around. If anyone has a light that they replaced with another type or one they have that is not needed.

I have an extra that was fitted to the Viscount - it was added by the original owner and is not required by me. It needs a new centre bolt bit that holds the glass on as this was corroded beyond salvation. I'll post a pic or two - it's yours for the cost of postage if you want it.

There were a few different shapes & sizes. Some were recessed with a low dome glass around 200mm diameter (60's - 70's Viscounts and some others), some were surface mount with a high dome glass around 240mm diameter (various 60's - 80's caravans), and some were recessed with a glass around 270mm diameter (70's Millard/York). I have a collection of all of the above.

Snoops if you could post some pictures it would be great.
Captivenut, The one I am looking for is not the recessed one. It is 240mm diameter with a high dome glass. It is for an Olympic Riviera.
Thanks Warren

I have checked the sizes and amended the dimensions in my previous post. The 240mm high dome glass was commonly used both internally & externally. Warren, you don't say where you are located so at this point I can't be of much help

Pics below. it is a high dome non recessed unit that is 240mm wide. As I mentioned, the screw and front nut that holds the glass on is U/S and gone to god, but if you want what's shown here I'll box it up and get it to you for the cost of postage. It is in good overall condition and will clean up no dramas. Althoigh this hasn't got the 12 volt fitting in it, I have a spare one of those too if you need it. The bases on the outside lights are different to that and don't have any holes in them other than the mounting holes and a hole for the cable entry. Thanks Again Warren

No dramas - this light was on the outside of my van for 40 years, so it's certainly up to the task. The cable coming into it was sealed where it comes through the cladding and it hasn't leaked inside and the fitting itself has zero damage from water so it has been fine in this application.

Snoops light is a type that was commonly used externally on several makes of caravans. The only holes I can see are the 12V & 240V cable entries and mounting holes. A dab of silicone will fix it if there are too many? The thread for the button nut is usually 3/16" Whitworth. New nuts can be bought online from CaravansPlus or VintageCaravanSpares or find an old diecast drawer knob and retap the thread.

I have a base (it has been damaged) that is the style that is commonalty used on the Olympics. I was going to put a picture of it on it here, but I must have put it in a safe spot, so safe I can't find it. When I find it I will post the picture. Found it 20180618_174241 by Warren Bassett, on Flickr As you can see the base has a minimum number holes (although there has been a few more added by previous owners) with a higher lip around the edge.
