Hi All
i am a new member and have just purchased what i believe to be a 1967 Franklin Safari it is a tandem axle double bed in the rear and L Shape bench with table in the middle, i think the front interior has been change and a set of double fold down bunks added ? i have a chassis number of S5617
Any help would be appriciated

Hi Gary, and welcome to the forum! If your van is a Franklin Safari, there should be a Franklin sticker above both the front and rear windows, and a Safari sticker under the rear window, and beside the door (often on the wall cladding, up near the top left corner of the door). If you find any or all of these stickers, it helps to confirm the brand and model name of your van. Assuming it actually IS a Franklin Safari from 1967, that chassis number you've quoted as S5617 will more than likely be 5561-7. Note that I've put a hyphen before the 7, because that's how the Franklin chassis numbering system worked between 1965 and 1972 (inclusive). That number 7 after the hyphen means it was built in 1967, and the numbers before the hyphen represent the consecutive number of chassis built in 1967, at the time yours was built (therefore, 5561 is the 5,561st chassis built in that year). If the number S5617 is actually true, then the van is some other brand, and not a Franklin. cheers, Al.
