G'day John, I'd be inclined to try and match the colour of the flash design on the sides of the van. If you look through the Viscount history thread (mainly Page 1 ) there's a mixture of photos showing spats matching the side flash colour, or spats just white. The examples showing the matching colour seem to be somewhat more appealing to my eye. cheers, Al.

I have updated the pic as I did not realise the 2nd pic had the Z colour not the Viscount colour I really do want to get this right my painter suggested doing one side the Viscount green stripe colour and the other the Viscount off white and see if anybody picks it up New pic

Rattles That's the problem this is a '68 so trying to find age appropriate ideas and keep it looking correct if possible , some of the later ones with darker contrasting colours look great but the lighter creams etc seem to be lost , the verdict is leaning towards the same colour as the stripe it is just paint after all

Wish it was that simple they need to be done in some special plastic coat then sprayed with the colour no spray can job , the Zephyr is going into the spray shop for some touch up work and the spats will be done on the van whilst there , not going to be cheap but what is today , to get a matching spray pack made is too hard this is why I am being careful I learnt long ago some things are best left to the pro's as in the end it is often cheaper that way

I'd be tempted to paint the spats the same colour as the top half of the car .... so different to the caravan stripes. seeya Shane L.

I did consider that Shane but the Conway Yellow looks somewhat anaemic against the white of the van where on top of the Ludlow Green on the car it is a nice contrast . IF I was going to do a van re paint I would be tempted to do a two tone scheme on the stripes or maybe even the whole van to match the car
