Upholsterer in the Sydney/Illawarra area

Hi all,

I am trying to find someone in the Sydney/Illawarra area that would do some basic upholstery for our dinette bases and backs.

I had one verbal quote which was $200 per piece of foam but that didnt include material! $800 plus materials seems a little on the expensive side to me.

I would like teal fabric (not vinyl) which might also make things more difficult/narrow down my options.

Any suggestions would be welcome!

Most if not all of the old upholsterers in the Illawarra have given the game away now. I went hunting for one a year or so ago, only to discover the well-known ones had stopped doing that stuff.

I'd give Barnes Caravans a call and ask them to recommend someone near you. They would surely know who is still in the game and who they'd recommend...

Thanks Al, I had forgotten about Barnes. They really do know their stuff out there. I will give them a call!

There is one old upholsterer in Fairy Meadow my dad has used for headlinings in a couple of cars (my 73 mini was one). I was going to get a quote off him too its just hard when he isnt open on weekends.

There's an automotive services business in Fairy Meadow where the fella also does restorations on old cars (mostly Holdens, I think). I found out about him a few years ago when I bought a caravan annexe off gumtree or ebay, and had to pick it up from him at his premises. Never knew he existed until we met up for the annexe pickup. It operates out of some sheds in the backyard of a residential house:

He might know of some local motor trimmers, etc., that you could contact.

Thanks again Al, another very useful contact. The caravan is stored about 1km from this bloke so very local.
