I am going to try something lowtech for my aircon project. Saw it on one of the caravan facebook pages Esky filled with ice , plumbing fitting and 12 v fan You can buy water coolers quite cheaply. If it's humid it'll probably be far from effective sadly But hey, it's better than nothing!

Well after more research we have decided to ditch the idea of an a/c. If we install the condenser on the drawbar the the bracket for the the spare tyre, gas bottle and gas lines will need to be modified and moved.... just too much... so no a/c and for this little project we are happy to do without it. After all this chat I mentioned to herself re A/C and was told no trips without it till April so we have odered This Unit for the office at home and also the VV when away , A mate has the smaller 2.9kw and it cools his van a treat even on 40deg days but for an extra 10 bucks we went with the 3.5 kw for $375 delivered it is good value

well if you have installed the air conditioner to use as a heater .... I can assure you if you stay in alpine country this time of year ... it will not be upto the task of heating the caravan overnight/early morning. The thing turns into a solid lump of ice. Now if the temperature would just stay above about 4 degrees... it is nothing short of brilliant.... Don't throw your fan heater out if your heading out orbost way seeya Shane L.
