Hi All. I am the proud new owner of a tiny Viscount poptop. I have no idea what the model is but the rego papers say 1980 but the chassis number is 94550 which from reading elsewhere on the site means it was made in 1979? Was curious if anyone could tell me more about it. The previous owner thought it was painted with the green and gold because 1980 was an Olympic year. Is tgere any truth to that? I want to fix her up a bit. My kids named her Sally Apple today . We are thinking of putting a folding bunk in but not sure. Apparantly there did use to be one. Anyway happy to have joined this board! Cheers Jennie

Sally Apple needs new canvas and the veneer is quite shappy too in places. There is a brown rubber stuff on the front to protect against stones which is peeling away but otherwise she appears to have been well loved and looked after.

Hi Jennie, congrats on your purchase, love the name. I've been collecting Viscount chassis numbers for the facebook Viscount group and have worked out that from 1979-1981 Viscount's chassis numbers all began with 9 and ran consecutively, your number fits in with 1980. I'm not sure about the Olympic reference but do know they had variations available - yellow and orange, brown and yellow, green and brown, brown and orange and your yellow and green. If you're looking to replace your poptop sleeve, check out Bags n Swags, they are highly recommended and post Australia wide, $400 for a new sleeve plus $17 postage and you fit it on yourself. This is their facebook page www.facebook.com/Bagsnswags-159393444227264/Cheers Shelley

Thanks for your reply Bagsnswags looks good. Will chat to my hubby about it. Am a little worried about fitting it. I also found the Viscount Facebook group. I love her name too. I was thinking Betsy but one son came up with cslling her Apple and the other son thought of Sally which luckily sound great together! Thanks for the info about the chassis. I guess this means shes not quite a classic! Oh well. Still good for me!
