G'day All, Well Easter came and went and the Thomson never turned a wheel,...........not a single spare site in any Caravan park I contacted....... so back onto the Thomson, At long last I have manufactured and fitted the Side Protection Rails to the van. I did intend using some American Hard-wood which I received from the States, but this turned out to be not so hard. when I routered the wood the router grabbed the knots and yanked them out leaving holes, So after hunting high and low, I found some ten year old Jarrah which was bone dry and straight... next I whacked it through the Router... When routered and sanded. I gave the wood three coats of Wattyl Estapol Satin Stain ( Black ) The Timber fitted to the THomson... using Bronze 30mm x 9G screws Another change to the rear of the Thomson is the fitting of 5/16 dark Perspex to the top louvers above the rear windows, makes a great difference inside the van... Well thats a couple of more jobs completed........next comes the rewiring of the Nissan ,to take the battery power to the caravan... times slipping by.........gotta get on the road soon. ;D ;D Cheers and Beers kiwijim

kiwijim, I think that's a SHOCKING job! I think you should send that van over to me IMMEDIATELY so I can dispose of it in the correct manner (...ie, put it in my shed) ;D Having watched your van get "improved" over the last few months, I thought surely there's not much more you could do...but once again you've come good. It's far too good a van to be suffering in the heat over in your climate. A Scottish van needs to have a bit of a chill in the air. Somewhere like...ummm...MY PLACE! D@mn you, kiwijim...I hate you. LOVE your van...but I hate you. cheers, Al.

Now listen 'ere Al... If I see that thing coming from the west forcibly dragged behind a car with funny looking nsw numba plates I will cease it (using the power invested upon my by my base ball bat) and put it in protective custody, in my garage........... after all it is chilli here and rainy too... ;D Hi Kiwijim Bad luck about not finding somewhere to park over easter.. damm public that wanna go away on public holidays and inconvience the likes of you and me Never thought of putting "protection" on the side of a caravan before. Good idea, was it there previously? nice looking bit of timber you have there............. The tint is a good thing too specially when your suppose to be chasing the sun when ya tour...

G'day Gang, Mighty glad to see that everyone hates the THOMSON, that's a load off my mind ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I was thinking of applying for a Police escort when we cross the border.......just in case some person from the Snowies tried to make it home-sick by Hi-jacking it off to some lonely mountain tin thingie behind there house. ;D Yes.... Bobt, all Thomson's were made with Protection rails fitted as standard, The original ones on this van were so rotten when I first got it ( almost two years ago ) that they fell apart when I tried to remove them before the re-paint, You"re not wrong about the weather this way Atog , I can't remember the last time we had any rain to talk about, I think it was last year some time the Bride planted the Plastic flowers (from AVON )beside my shed just to fill in the spots where all the flowers had died, they don't take much watering...Our present "regular excess water" bill......$ 150--$200 Someone said that there could not be any more "Improvements" to do on the THOMSON.........wrong, it's a CLASSIC, As most of you Guy's know......... there will always be something more to be done, but as time is getting near for our Departure from the West, I will have to draw a line soon..... Gotta keep that date with some other Classics around the Country-side, although their owners DON"T want to see the THOMSON, I may just say G'DAY any way. ;D ;D ;D Cheers all, kiwijim ;D
