Hi, We are new to the group and this is our first classic Kampa. We have been told various years of our Chesney, so we are hoping to find out and get some more information on it. We absolutely love our little van so far and have clocked up a few thousand km's on it in the last month. Look forward to meeting others through this group. Cheers, Rusty and Ginger

Hi Rusty and Ginger, I"m pretty sure the fibreglass version as yours is came out in 1973,and was called a "GT camper". It was sold alongside the older aluminium version for a while, then both were taken over by the Chesney Freedom Express camper later in the seventies. Hope this helps, Cheers hughdeani

Hello Rusty and Ginger Here is a link to the info on here . ditzygypsy.proboards.com/thread/346/chesney-kampa-freedom-express-playtime I searched the web when I had mine there is a little bit of info but not a lot. I found some info in sale ads on gumtree and ebay etc but unknown if it was correct. I refurbished the aluminum model. One of the first ones. It had a excellent lay-out for size and a breeze to tow. Unfortunately for us the wife still had to pack all photography equipment into car before leaving for a job or fun. fortunate for a young couple who are now getting the use out of it. have fun and be safe Bruce

Thanks for the info everyone 😊 We've just suffered a huge blow to the van when one of the tyres blew and took out all the fibreglass around the wheel surroundings, then got caught in a huge storm which has warped all our timber and ripped the canvas 😢 After doing some pricing and deciding we didn't have the time needed to fix it to get it to its full potential, we came across this little 70's Hy King which is suiting our needs of always being on the road much better. If anyone knows of anyone looking for a project Chesney Kampa then feel free to send them our way, it will be going up for sale shortly at a very good price. We are looking forward to learning more about our Hy King now 😊
