I hope you don't mind but I've snuck over from the vintage site. We have just bought a 69 Franklin Regent and in order to transfer the rego to bring it home we are requiring a Tare weight, since it is almost a classic I thought I might have some luck here So my question is, can anyone tell me what the Tare is on a 14.6 Franlin Regent? Thanks

Hey jp63
You would be better off running it over a weigh bridge and using the ticket as proof when you take it to your registration authorities. Should cost you about $30/35

We where hoping to avoid it, as the van is 3 hours away and the cost of a permit to get weighed is nearly the same a years rego. But it may be our only option

Yep understand this. If you can get away without a weighbridge ticket tell em 550kg. Its a number I recall being associated with a Franklin but I cannot for the life of me recall what size. hughdeani might pop up and give his view.

I think 550 kg would be for the 10 ft version,I reckon 750 will cover it. I have a 15 Viscount, same year, fridge, stove, etc and it weighs 960. So you could go 750 kg tare and 950 ATM. Hope this helps and not standing on Bobt toes? Cheers hughdeany

well today I went and transferred the rego of our soon to be picked up Regent, for the tare I took a stab and put 760 kg down and BINGO it was spot on. So thank you for the help. also it turns out our little van is registered as a 74. Based on the chassis number of 2069-9 I asked about it while I was at the motor reg & was told that it is very likely that at some stage in its life it has been with out plates and upon re registering the year has probably been estimated and if I would like to get it changed it would require a trip to Regency for an inspection which seems like a lot of effort so a 74 it will remain.... So maybe We belong here after all

All done. I did wonder though, Does it really counts if she is lying about her real age

All done. I did wonder though, Does it really counts if she is lying about her real age Mine was sold as a 1976, the serial number was identified as late 1975 here & the RTA now RMS have put 1977 on the vin plate! In another 20 years that 2 or 3 years will not make too much difference.
