What ever prompted you to try this?

Hi Garyr Jest got home from a weekend at Benalla... hmmm fuel cost. Significantly more than $20. Good on ya for the lateral thinking. I am still huming and harring about putin the current tow car on lpg!!! hey atog..... found a hole gaggle of classic caravans.... all parked in several rows at the Benalla airport. Guess they belong to the glider mob.... As sad as some were they all looked as though they were still well used............... ;D

Back to Garyr's Bitsarmisin Mate how is the engine converted to use cooking oil? Or How is the cooking oil converted for use as diesel? Reason for the question May have to rethink my tow car ......... Whatever car/truck I end up with - needs to be economical to run Sounds to me you've struck gold with the cooking oil bit...... So be proud and loud Give us the good oil ;D ;D ;D on cooking oil You may have a convert as opposed to a per...... How am I to get a diesel into the Cl ...... questions, questions so many questions Cheers Atog The relative of the Roman Tightasafishus

Hi all Thanks for youre interest i guess i should explan how i do it tho there is many ways to run a diesel on cooking oil waste vegie oil wvo. First I collect the oil then I filter it using a plastic 200lt drum with chicken wire on the top forming a dish on the topless drum on top of the chook wire i use a sheet folded in half. Once I have about 180 lits in the drum I add 4 litres of turps mix it in well and let settle for about 1 month this helps settle out any water in the oil some people boil the oil before filtering to get rid of any water I have a ball valve tap a the bottom and drain water of once every few months in winter i ad more turps ,
I then fill my tank I have a glow plug and water heat exchanger pryer to my ip to help things along .
please be warned this is not something for everyone as some cars are better with a 2 tank system and some are fine on blends if you are reall keen and want to learn more google biodiesel and wvo forums there is a lot of them they are a good source of info thats how I learnt about cooking oil I have made biodiesel but its a lot of work messy and dangerous so I personally can,t recommend it Hope this helps the curious Cheers Gary

atog How dare you give up on the CL...... Just do what one of my neighbors did many years ago... He installed a diesel motor into a falcon sedan. The vegie oil thing sounds real good to mee.. Come on GaryR tell us more ................ please. I..........I ......I ........I .........I ....I....... I Oh the shame Well to redeem myself Nothing is set in concrete re the defection from Chrysler to Tojo The sheer weight of petrol cost is a huuuuuge factor As I have stated several times ... We haven't got the money so now we have to think Added to this the "scream and dream" eer "cheese and kisses" Now informs me that whatever we get needs power steering and air con... or else.... So on the whole .... A Tojo unmodified except for the necessary bits to make it run on veg oil seems the best option Looking on Ebay - 1992-1994 good condition wagons can go for up to 10K Not bad considering what they are To do up a Cl I was looking at about ...... 15 or more There is one other option Buy a Tojo .... do the trip And ..... then sell it to buy a CL..... Or Buy a CL and store it...... Hmmmm A little more thinking needed on this one Atog Either way my pockets are empty currently So both will go on the backburner for now Don't stop looking for a Pvan just yet On a related note..... Kevin Ruddy Wilson hasn't sent me his gift $ yet ... So not a lot of progress on the van ........ I can wait..... Cheers Atog the dreamer
