Howdy to all you Coronet caravan owners. When I was 16 to 17 years old, I worked at Coronet caravans in Ballarat (about '77). When some of us guys finished the fit out of a van, we would "autograph" the inside somewhere with our name, but the cleaning ladies where a step ahead of us & would clean our names off. I figured a way to out smart the ladies, if you sit inside the wardrobe & look up at the top, behind & above the wardrobe door, you may find my name. Mainly in the small pop tops or the "slide-ons". Let me know if you find a name, be pretty cool. Cheers, Bryan

Wow & welcome Bryan, awesome story and i am sure our Coronet owners will be a jumping into the wardrobes, is there a prize for the first to post a pic of your autograph or do the new owners have to shout you a slab?

Thanks atefooterz, dude on my income, doubt that there will be a prize, a slab, nah, don't drink beer, a bourbon, yeah be in that. Be just interesting to see if any turn up anywhere. Every time I see one of those little popup's in my travels, it puts a smile on my face. Cheers & enjoy your weekend, Bryan

So what was your job in the production of the Coronet vans ?
Cheers

Thanks Lockyer. I was doing a few different jobs in there, us 16 year olds did as much as the adults, but cheap wages, lol. I mainly did the internal fit-outs, as in all the cupboards, sinks, etc. At one stage I also did the plumbing, all the water side of things. I started an apprenticeship while I was there, sadly they closed into my fist year. I was a pretty skinny (as we all were at that age) little guy & the apprenticeship was called a body builder, you should have seen the looks I got when skinny little me told people I was a body builder!!! I left Coronets & went to Brimarco caravans in Ballarat, they where more commercial vans, think they are still going too. Left there & went to Franklin caravans, also in Ballarat. That's what you did in those days, got sick of the boss & went from one caravan place to the next. This was back in the late '70's. Great memories, fun times. Cheers
