I went to look at this van this afternoon. Its a great style of van, just what we're looking for - although once again a bit too expensive. I just can't find any information about them online. Its listed on Gumtree as a 1988 'Commodore' and on the Transport Tasmania as a 1981 'Commer' (easy mistake). Does anyone know anything about Commodore vans? Any thoughts? Tim

Hi Tim, Your van was made by Pacesetter in Melbourne. They were sold through different yards with different names, one such being Commodore among others. They were a good van in their time,I even owned one many years ago! Cheers hughdeani

Thanks Hughdeani, I've heard of Pacesetter and it does bring up a few more hits on Google than Commodore (if you don't count cars).
Its a good layout for a family, has a small bathroom, a lounge/bunk that can be closed off with a concertina door and a master bedroom with another concertina. On the down side, it appears to be an ex-hire van, and it hasn't lived an easy life.

I'm back again with another. This one is labelled "New Home" which may just have been a dealer name. It came from Victoria. Tim

Hi Tim, That one was built by New Home, who were a manufacturer in the 70s and 80s. I believe nothing to do with the new New Home now being built, they probably just bought the name. Nothing wrong with them in their time, just look for the usual signs when buying second hand. Cheers hughdeani

Thanks again Hughdeani, there must have been a lot of manufacturers, back in the day!
