Hi all i have another caravan that I would like to share with you all. i got a phone call from a mate and his neighbour had an old caravan she wanted removed from her property as she is building a house on the property. i had seen the van in the yard from a distance but never taken much notice of it other than knowing it was a viscount. the van has been locked up for many years as the owner had another property with a house and never needed to go into the van. The key was lost that gave access to the annexe on the side of the van and it included a roof that covered the van from the elements. I drilled out the lock and got into the van for a look. It's a time capsule unopened for years. Dust everywhere and untouched for who knows how long.
dont you you just love the Brunswick green paint.
its free from it's long lived home. Ready to come to it's new home.
its a 20 footer with 2 doors.
the hole where the van used to live.

The van had last be regoed in 1979 and the tyres are like new with still max tread. Obviously they are hard and cracked but this van has hardly done any road miles. The only thing missing is the fridge. It's got the manual water pump you use your foot to pump. It also has a 12 v pump and transformer for the water pump and to charge the battery. The original junkers HWS has been replaced with a small 240v HWS. It's a very exciting time as I don't get to take possession of such an original van. More photos to come once the some cleaning is done.

Hi Supreme, What an ace find! A big Viscount that hasn't been butchered ! I think you should work your magic on this one and sell on your 18ft ! Even has the original blinds and woodwork that you could scrub and not peel off. Fantastic find, will watch what happens with great interest. Cheers Hughdeani

awesome! Love a good barn find, whether it be a classic car or a 20ft van! Will look amazing with a bit of a scrub inside, and only having to repaint the front and rear is a bonus!

A terrific score, looking forwards to seeing you work this one, looks like a dust & polish plus some hard decisions about the paintwork haha! Viva Brunswick Green!

You know of all the colours I hate it's mission brown and Brunswick green. I can't wait to get it home so I can work my magic on the old girl. My son wants it but I am being selfish and keeping it myself. I was cleaning it out at the property today and under all the green carpet I found some awesome purple carpet. It looks like to original carpet in the bedroom and has been covered up. I was disappointed to find that some of it had been removed at the back of the bedroom so it's not complete. The carpet is in original cold covered for most of its life with green stuff. I was talking to the old owner today and she said she has owned the block for over 20 years and has not been inside the van since she first purchased the block. So that makes it 1994 and it was put there in 1979 so it only got used for 15 years as a weekender. No wonder it's in so good condition. The hard thing is now I want to use it to travel with. My landcruiser will handle it no worries and minimal work and it's usable. Paint, seal up some things a set of rims and tyres and electric brake conversion and it's ready to go. Then again my 1978 supreme is almost finished and with all the love it's recieved from me it's hard to decide what way to go. I guess there is no rush to decide. Just enjoy the new toy and finish of the supreme and decide in good time.

I recon that'll leak like an absolute sieve... all the mastic will have turned to concrete decades ago. Do you have it stored in a shed until you can find the 6months it'll take to strip out the windows and corner seals and re-seal. It would be a huge shame to let it get water damaged inside! I have no doubt it'll leak from every single seal and window/4seasons hatch given the old original mastic I've found in my caravan seeya, Shane L.

I will move it to my sons house next week and cover it with my truck tarp until summer when I will spend a week sealing it all. It does not have 4 seasons hatches as it's 1971 model so it's before they came out. The roof has been resealed by one of the previous owners. But I still don't want it to get water damage now it's been water free for so long. Time to get some quality sealant for the job. Any ideas? I have used sika flex before but am worried that it's almost impossible to get apart again.

I have used sika flex before but am worried that it's almost impossible to get apart again. I was going to use the polyurethane seal 'n' flex ... but now I've almost finished cleaning all the corner seals........... I reckon I'll just use roof and gutter silicon. If I "hydraulic" it in and waste shitloads, I can never see the edge trims ever needing to be removed ever again. The silicon that's behind the trim should last the life of the caravan given it's out of the sun. Silicon never seems to degrade if correctly applied. The windows will be foam tape and mastic.... I guarantee, if there stuck in with anything, the kids will break them requiring removal within 12months............... I look at the sheer size of that caravan and think "What a job" ... removing all the old sealant is going to take forever LOL seeya, Shane L.

Yeah if the sealant is the original mastic it will just turn to powder and then a rub with the scouring pad and reseal it with something. I did most of my supreme in a week and that including rebuilding the front window frame. As far as the windows go If I ever brake a glass I can remove that part easy without removing the whole frame.
