Hi everyone, Our old Franklin project van is minus a door. I'm balking at the cost of a new door so was wondering if anyone had ever made one up themselves for their van and if so what did you use? We are in Geraldton WA so our options in terms of finding a second hand one are somewhat limited.

G'day noidea, I was hoping somebody would come on and answer your question, but it doesn't look like anybody has got any ideas. I can't recall anybody on the forum saying they had made a new door for a van, so it might not be all that easy to do. You could probably make a "poor excuse for a door" out of the aluminium extrusion that screen doors are made from, and instead of flywire you would have to put sheet aluminium there, but I've never done it nor seen it done. One of the crucial parts of caravan doors is the rubber/plastic door seal, which you would need to incorporate into any door you made. Might be in the "too hard" basket, hey?! cheers, Al.
