Hi All......
Not sure if this is where I should be putting this post but assuming will be moved if in the wrong spot.
So I'm very new to this Caravan world have been a very happy tent and swag camper for years but have just bought a 78 Viscount Poptop of my FIL and I am really loving it. Van was in pretty good condition my hubby just going around weather proofing as there were quite a few little holes and leaks, one section of panelling had a little wood rot but have sanded it back and put some wood hardener on it will see how it comes up in the morning. Not a big fan of wood panelling so have primed it and started painting over it. Will put some pictures up shortly if I can work it out lol

Ok so we have had a busy weekend painting and tinkering around with van. After numerous trips to Bunnings we got quite a lot accomplished. I have primed all the timber laminate and given in the first coat here is the Before Coat of primer First Coat of colour We are finding it really hard to find parts I'm sure its probably a problem that arise regularly around here chasing a light fitting at the moment very frustrating.....

G'day campingqueen, and welcome to the forum! Apologies for this late response to your posts, but somehow the first one slipped by me without me realising. Anyhoo, nice Viscount you have there. Can we have the chassis number please, so I can include it in the heading of this thread? Your painting has given it a nice little spruce-up. Will freshen it up quite nicely! Is that the light fitting, showing in one of your photos, that you want replaced? I doubt very much whether you'll track down anything original to replace it, so you might have to look at alternatives. Check out the CaravansPlus website to see what they might have for any parts you need... CaravansPlus It's certainly not easy getting hold of Viscount parts, because they were all made specially by Viscount themselves, and you have to hope that somebody is wrecking an old van to grab some bits off it. cheers, Al.

Hi, Thanks for the welcome, Chassis Number is 84574. Thanks for info CaravansPlus has some great stuff on it thanks for pointing me there. Slowly getting there with van have hopefully finished painting have gone with a light grey and white with the drawer and cupboard doors dark grey for some contrast, Cushions were recently recovered in a nice dark blue so have left those and matched the curtains with almost the same dark blue. My next big mission is the fridge, it is an Electrolux 3 way fridge but the piezo is missing and I'm not sure whether either it even works, really cant afford a new one so going to take it to an expert to get it looked at. If anyone has any suggestions of any good places in Perth preferably northern suburbs around Warwick. Here are some updated pics of my painting

Well, that's looking very nice! Amazing how a fresh coat of paint and some new curtains can transform a van into quite a good looking home. Looks like somebody has already claimed the van as their little holiday home! Great job you're doing! cheers, Al.
