Hi I am in the process of doing up an old Viscount I think it is around 76 model the chassis number is R66497 any help in the correct year would be grateful. also am chasing the window locks for it, the ones I found for WOW camec windows appear to have holes in the window to take the locks... mine have a little piece that hangs down to lock it. does any one know where and if you can get these still?, or if the camec ones will work?? this Forum wont allow me to attach the pic. regards Mark

G'day Mark, Yes, the chassis number is a 1976 number. Are the window locks you've looked at the same as these ones? You are going to have to try and adapt something that's available these days, rather than finding the old types. cheers, Al.

Hi Al, Rattles, I'm new to this site and still trying to learn how to drive it..Lol I have put a link in my original post above of what the locks look like. I went to Camec today and brought one of the starlite ones that look similar but it doesn't look like they will sit down enough with out butchering the window frame, and drilling holes in the window to take the clip. I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do with the locks now! Mark

viscount, you are not the first to have faced the window lock problem. It's an issue for any owner of a Viscount from this time period. A couple of years ago, the subject was discussed (see here), but there was never anything resolved. We can only hope that the people reproducing the Viscount cupboard catches these days, will also start to reproduce the window locks. Maybe Viscount owners can get a petition together, and present it to these people. They could be looking for another marketing opportunity. cheers, Al.

Thanks Al, I did find that tread the other day before I posted mine, I noticed that it wasn't resolved. I have fixed one window unfortunately....I moved the van out of storage this morning to do some more work on it and didn't realize that some one (my five year old) had opened the window up and I removed it on the fence. So I will have to replace it with a new one now as mine is in about 5 different pieces. Im just hoping that I can still by that size new! Mark

The Viscount windows I listed in the For Sale section recently, didn't sell on ebay. Maybe there's an opportunity to negotiate with the seller to buy the size you want?

Hello, I just bought some like these from Caravans Plus and they cost $1.77 each. In my van I have some original and some brown ones that someone else had put in. I have just ordered 10 of these, but I only need 6. I am going to have some in reserve in case the original ones fail and need replacing.

Hi there, Here are some photos of the ones in my caravan. The grey ones are original. The brown ones are replacements that someone else put in. Some of the grey ones broke last weekend and I was after some more. I phoned caravans plus and emailed them the photos as follows... They said that these ones would work: Wind-out Window Slide Lock and Lever, but they don't have any in stock right now but have ordered me in 10 of them and will send them out next week. I hope they are the right ones. I spoke to Peter and he was pretty helpful. Fingers crossed and I'll keep you posted on whether they work on my van. Hope this helps…. Cheers EBeeeee

Thanks EBeeeee, that would be good if you let me know if they fit and are the same as the last pic? has some one drilled holes in the window surround to take the little hook? as that's what I looked at but it seemed to sit to high for the surround. I didn't wont to start butchering my surrounds to take something that didn't look like it would fit. Mark

Hello there Betty and Viscount. Success! I installed my first new window lock on ENIDb last night. So - just two little bits. The bigger piece fits inside the channel and the knob part fits in the slot then you just pop rivet or screw it in.

HI Enidb, if I can trouble you that would be great, I only need to see the other part of where the lock locates in the window.. as I'm still at a loss to how this locks the window without a hole in the frame to take the lock. Im still trying to upload pics of my Van...Every time I do it, it says that the tread has excided its limit??
