Gday Andrew 1 If possible take the van to a weighbridge and obtain the GTM,TARE AND BALL Weights on a docket because 9 out of 10 times the figures recorded on the registration papers are incorrect (you need these figures for your own safety and to make sure the caravan is compliant) 2 check for any discolouring in the internal linings and internal ceiling (ie leaks are very hard to track down and can do much more damage to the internal frame work than you can physically see) Have the walls or ceilings been recently painted and if so why ? 3 Check the condition of the chassis for any bad rust areas and obvious twisting or sagging ,also the condition of the floor (is it spongy ?) 4 Do the appliances work also check that all electrical switches are in good working condition (IE CHECK EVERYTHING AND MAKE SURE IT WORKS) 5 Do the windows and roof vent work and are they a cause of water ingress (ie staining of internal panels) Good luck with your purchase if you go ahead with it ! Cheers Andy

Thanks Andy thats really helpful. Turns out the van is located in an area south of Sydney that would make more sense for us to visit next weekend (on our way to wollongong to visit the oldies).
I have a feeling this van is going to be too small, but happy to check out as many old vans as possible. There dont seem to be too many around old sydney town! Will keep an eye out for the problem areas you mentioned.
Andrew
