G'day greedy, I bought a couple of those fans off ebay about 3 months ago. Cheap as chips they are. I got mine for $1.12 each including postage. I installed one of them in the seat box to provide forced ventilation in that seatbox where the battery is installed. I did notice when I tested the fan that it was a bit "noisy" and I don't think I could put up with that noise throughout the night. These fans would still be useful for the fridge though. You probably wouldn't run them through the night anyway. Only through the day when the outside temperature is fairly hot.
At least you got yours already fitted to a backing plate. I had to make all that stuff for mine.
cheers, Al.

Gday Greedy n Al, Just noticed this post & thought I can add my 2c worth. (There aren't any 2c anymore, so this could be worthless! ) The noise of your fan that you mentioned Al is not good: you can get new ones cheap from electrical shops... I got our fan out of an old desktop computer that was being thrown out. The fan was installed in its own mounting box which housed the "power box" maybe 150x150x50mm. You can actually see/feel the airflow at the back of the computer. I took all the power stuff out of its box and that left the box with its little fan. I then tied that box with nylon ties to timber framework of the sink which is over the fridge. Huge improvement to cooling, AND very QUIET: we actually do run it on warm nights to give the fridge a head start next day. It only draws 1.4watts on 12v. No noise problem! Really silent. Cheers mike☆☆☆

How CLEVER! Using an old computer fan. I have an old computer which I was going to throw out. But how did you hook the 240 v fan up to the 12 v power?

Most computer cooling fans only run at 5 volts maximum, and they quite happily will run connected to a 12volt supply. Use 120mm fans for the best airflow instead of the smaller 80mm ones.
