Hi, I have read through the threads and decided my cheap, towed from fround the corner van seems to be a 75 Viscount? The pics I have taken are a little grainy(due to camera). The numbers on the drawbar are rusted, but on inspection seem to line up with nicko I found written under the top (wouldn't be gaim to use) bunk. 5910. I think this makes it about a 75? There is the typical water damage around the curved windows and a bit around the vents, but overall happy for my $550. Also changed a couple of broken windows, so so far at $600, but now have plenty of spair winders, some more windows, trimmings and other bits(from a caravan that was wrecking). Anyway here are a few pics, any information would be much appreciated(as it has no viscount stickers on it, so can't tell model). Cheers, Mark

Hi Mark The van looks like great value and in quite good condition. It looks like it is around mid 70's van. Usually they have a letter on the chassis number. Like R for royal S for supreme ect. You might find some numbers under cupboards or mine has numbers sewn on the cushions during manufacture. Mine is a 1978 so might have implemented this numbering system later in the 70's What ever year it is it should be an easy fix up and then enjoy it. Good luck with the new acquisition. Regards Paul

Cheers Paul, will post some pics of the dodgier bits.. But I am happy with it, three year old thinks it is his house. Sugar Soap brought up nicely. Tow bar too rusted to read numbers. but will check cupboards (did find that 5910 written, maybe 5 is an S?. There is a bit of water damage, door a bit broken and a few bits missing, but for the price is a great extra room. Will be doing as good a job at waterproofing I can, then leaving the biulk of work untill I have time (have to focus on the ACT camper I got after the Viscount to try get it on road for camping, figure it is easier to register the trailer and safer/easier to tow?)

G'day Mark, I'd put your van down around the end of 1972 or the start of 1973. It's a shame the chassis numbers aren't clear to read, because that would make life a bit easier for us to identify the age. I've got a hunch you've got a Supreme model, only because of the number of ribs on the cladding that have the yellow stripes. It's not an exact science, but Viscounts with that painted design on the sides have a varying number of ribs painted, both on the front half of the design, and on the rear half. If you look at the Viscounts in the Museum thread you'll see the number of ribs that are painted on different models with this design. The fact that your van has wind-out windows points towards it being built in 1973, and perhaps before the new series of chassis numbers were started where they put a '3' at the start of the numbers meaning 1973. Nice van, whatever the year is! cheers, Al.
