G'day Biggles Looks like you got a great bargain deal there, congrats. Was the wall lining pulled off when you bought it? If so its quite possible that it has had some water damage hence they pulled it off. Check inside the cupboards and in the corners where the wall meets the floor for any further unrepaired water damage. Also, the coat of paint inside is usually a good sign that they have had some previous water damage. If the van spells like mildew when you first open it up, especially on a hot day, I'd bet that there's still some water coming in somewhere. If you get a day or two of solid rain I suggest that you go into the van and feel around the walls ceiling and floor, especially in the cordners, for any damp patches. So before you make any repairs to the interior paneling, check and fix any leaks first! If the silicon on the top of the roof, around the windows or on the corners of your van looks like its cracking up, I suggest that you replace this and check for any leaks before you start on the inside. Do you have the original cupboard doors? You can paint those too but my suggestion is take the plastic edging off before you paint them - you'll end up with a better finish. On and if you find the paint job a little shabby in spots I suggest going for a lightly tinted colour Cheers - young_dazza

Hi YOUNG dazza I took the walls off myself the first thing I did was trace all the water leaks and water damaged panels as you said.there was only a few leaks coming in from the ceiling joints ,I have since scrapped down the roof and resealed it and repainted it as well ,we have had some lousey weather of late but good rain to test it out in ,no leaks. The inside of the van my misses has had her say there and she has started to paint it white and yes we have all the inside cuboards and knobs ,the layout is going to be the same as it was original but in some new colours .next job is windows all outand rebuilt and some new panelling to be fitted inside and new electrics.
