Hi Guys....(IM BACK)
I finally got another van it is a 1971 Viscount Duralvan, has a bit of water damage but I intend on replacing all the walls ceiling etc....the front and rear curved corner windows are in excellent condition, couple of normal windows are cracked but ill get new ones cut, the floor is awesome it is one awesome van the original gas cooktop is seriously like brand new. The cladding is in impeccable condition. Once I finish this complete Reno I will do a complete 2-pac paint and a bit of airbrushing on it like the last one. I am going to re-incarnate this one just like my last Viscount Royal. Anyway ill put some pics on soon.

For those that haven't read the thread about rocketrod's previous Viscount effort, it's well worth your time having a read: RocketRod's 1970's Viscount RenoLook forward to seeing what magic you create with this latest van. cheers, Al.

I got home from work today and stuck my head under the van to inspect the chassis, and found the Z-channel underneath is rusted away...Does anybody know if this is a common rail to buy? And if so where to get it from???
thanks in advance:)

I did not want to, but I am thinking about removing my viscount body off the chassis, I need to do chassis restoration before I even begin my Reno. I seen on this forum a couple of years ago somebody had pics showing them taking body off. Can anybody steer me to some posts where they have removed the body?

Hey rocket. I too had rusted Z channels. I don't think you can buy them, but I took one of the old rusted ones in to my local metal fab/engineering place and they reproduced them, pretty easy for them really.

Also, I replaced 2 of the Z channels and did not need to remove the body from the chassis, just jacked it up and out of the way of the rails as I replaced them. Of course if you were doing extensive surgery or adding more supports removing it from the chassis might help.
I think it was Camich who removed the van from the chassis, but that was to create a whole new chassis!

I will add my name to the list of those who are very keen to see the end results of effort, given the quality of the last one. Superb.
