Hi Just rescued an old York Caravan, trying to date it I think the number on the chassis is Y9377 or Y5377 ( pic on part 2) the logo looks like an oval so seems an early model. Any ideas?

G'day Sharon, your post has slipped by me without me realising, so apologies for that. I'd say judging by the triple louvre windows, it is more likely to be Y5377, and is from around the middle of the 1970s (say, 1974 - 1976). I don't actually know when the York logos changed from the oval version to just the YORK letters. Unfortunately, the York brand didn't feature in advertising all that much, so it's a bit hard to get a feel for what was what (they all tend to look the same at first glance). All I can tell you is that I've got the oval logo in a advert from 1972, and the YORK letters logo in an advert from 1977, so somewhere between those two years it was changed.
cheers, Al.

Thanks Al, I was looking at the cushions and tabletop and thinking it was earlier. I thought the mid seventies had the heart shape in the table legs. I have contacted the Queensland Transport and asked when it was first registered, whether they get back to me or not is another thing. Copied the chassis plate for your perusal.
