Well, after 4 months of off and on renovating, we are about to head off this weekend on our maiden voyage in 'Olive'. This is the van we bought sight unseen at Christmas time from our friends that told us it was a Grand Tourer, but it turned out to be a Travel Home with a Viscount awning (must have been replaced at some stage). She is named Olive as that was the original owner's wife's name and I believe they had it from new or near new for 30 years plus. She is in nearly original condition, except the table has been replaced with a new top (sadly) and the single vinyl mattress bases have been replaced with marginally wider inner sprung mattresses. Other than that, everything else as was and in great condition. The underneath workings are all good and hubby Piet has been spending most of his spare time repairing woodwork, fixing a few small leaks and generally tidying up. I have been having fun kitting her out in all the authentic 70's gear (including some of our wedding presents from the same era ;D) We had hoped to have her re-painted before now, (then was going to post up photos) but that will have to wait until we get back from this weekends trip.
On another note... I have always been very fond of 'retro' accessories and have been collecting them for a while. I am wondering if there would be interest on this site for those wanting to deck out their vans in the right era (and colourscheme) - mostly kitchenalia - textiles are getting very hard to find? Chris
