hi. new to the forum.
On the Central Coast NSW.
No van yet but starting the process... In no hurry. Will be quietly watching and learning before I jump in. Any advice on better or worse brands and models to look out for. Target is around the 15' size, double bed..

G'day kerley1111, and welcome to the forum! ;D Sounds like a very good idea to quietly watch and learn before jumping in. You'll probably find that the first van you buy ends up being a good learning experience, which helps you decide what you'd buy next. So, don't expect to find the "perfect" van on the very first go. In the five years that I've been on this forum, I haven't got a sense that there's one brand that's better than the others, or that there's one brand that gives more trouble than the others. Obviously, you'll come across good and bad examples of just about every brand of van. The trick is to do your homework (as you've indicated) and then minimise the chances of you spending your money on a "lemon". If you haven't already done so, go to the Techo Stuff section and you'll see five threads "stickied" at the top of the index list on the first page. Have a read of all those threads for some useful information. The other thread worth reading is this one: How many start but don't finish? for a bit of insight into why so many people who join this forum don't seem to hang around for very long. cheers, Al.

Thanks Donna and Al. I'll enjoy the research and have already started looking back at threads. I don't plan on doing full scale renovations but anticipate the need to do an amount of the more basic reno, essential maintenance and cosmetic stuff.. Will need to wait and see - I have a very good tent for now and we do get out into this beautiful country of ours as often as possible. The move to a van is part of longer term planning. No doubt we will talk again. Al
