G'day Donna, The van does look a bit like a Viscount Ambassador, ay?, but I have a hunch it is an Escort van, made in the early 1970s. There is something about the painted design on the sides that makes me think it's more Escort than Viscount. I seem to remember the Escorts got a chassis number starting with E as well (which only confuses with the Viscount Ambassadors that got an E ). I don't think the Escort brand lasted much beyond the early '70s, because I've not yet seen one with the wind-out windows. I don't have any info in our Museum section on the Escorts yet, but the earlier history of them can be seen in the Vintage caravan forum history section. cheers, Al.

Hi Al and Donna, the van is definately a Viscount. Those little Viscounts had those small skinny windows as standard back then, the width was only 6.6ft wide too.Looks like someone has added a few extras and a bit of personal paint design.
A true baby van! Cheers hughdeani

, If it is a Viscount it would seem to be a 1975 model but I don't know what the E stands for in the vehicle number. I have 2 Royals, one a 1973 and the other a 1974 and their numbers start with R3 and R4; R3 for the '73 one and R4 for the '74 one. Cheers, Ross.
