I was reading in the motoring section of last weekend's paper that the Australian fella using the Winnebago name had not actually received permission from the parent company in the US to use the name here. Doesn't matter that he's been using it here for at least 30 years. Mid last year, a US judge in their Federal Court ruled that this fella had "intentionally hijacked" the brand name without actually asking head office in the US if it minded. As a result of the court decision, the Winnebago name will be phased out here, and the name Avida will take its place. But, be prepared for some creative advertising to alert people to the fact that the Avida brand is from the same business that brought you Winnebago. cheers, Al.

Was he importing Winnebago's from USA or making his own version here and putting the Winnebago logo on them? Very odd that no one noticed what he was doing for over 30 years Subbie

Subbie, he's been making them in Australia since 1978, and has a large factory at Emu Plains on the western fringe of the Sydney region. More details about the name change can be read at this site: www.winnebago.com.au/cheers, Al.
