the factory supplied handbook should have the tow weights in it. Or maybe a google search Pete

Standard duty Ford approved towpack. (1,600kg)
Maximum load (combined weight of trailer and load), 1,600kg Auto, or 1,200kg Manual. The weight on the towball (towball vertical weight) must not exceed 160kg.
Heavy duty Ford approved towpack. (2,300kg) Automatic transmissions only.
Maximum load is 2,300kg. Maximum towball weight must not exceed 230kg. maybe think about air shocks too

Thanks guys, Jason beat me to it, thank you Ok, so how do I know determine if I have a "Standard duty Ford approved towpack"? From my dodgey memory, the towbar was put on when I purchased the when it was 4 years old. I think it was part of my wheeling and dealing. ;D

hi ya donna If you have the 2300 kg heavy duty towbar you should have a square receive type thing poking out from under the rear of your car as part of your tow bar and a goose neck that slides out. It will look like this. best photo I had at hand, hope it helps. bobt

Yep, big difference between a "factory" tow pack and just adding a tow ball to a car after purchasing! Factory tow pack vehicles are fitted with different rear springs, shocks, special mounting points and a separate, or bigger, transmission oil cooler. Have it checked out by the local Ford dealership if in doubt just to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the info guys. Mine is just a standard flat tongue not the square type What your saying docbob is the info I was after. I was thinking that after market may not give me the same towing capabilities and factory issue. I think I might fust go visit my friendly Ford dealer on the weekend and see what they say ;D

manufacturer’s name or trademark must also be stamped on the flange of the tow ball should have a rating on it also

So I went and saw Tony at Aranda Towbars and it turns out, it's one of their towbars that is fitted....that was convenient And the good news is, that after having a look at everything, Tony said I can tow up to 1600kg. He then went on to give me a whole heap of other info on weight distribution hitchs and such like. So a big thanks heaps to the guys at Aranda Towbars Slacks Creek, especially for talking to me as an equal and not like I was some dumb female who couldn't know anything (that happens a lot : So now with my info, I'm back to van hunting
