Hi there, firstly, great site! well done and thanks to everybody involved I would also like help / information about my 1979 23ft viscount supreme caravan which has a gas test compliance plate (with the chassis number on it) dated 1984. the chassis number is S64997 any information would be most appreciated

G'day bandidofromoz, and welcome to the forum. ;D
A Viscount chassis number of S64997 decodes as follows:
S = Supreme 6 = 1976 4997 = 4,997th chassis built that year, or about half way through the year.
The gas compliance date of 1984 is because the rules changed at that time and people were required to get their gas systems certified. Many vans from the 1970s can be found with an early 1980s gas check date.

thanks for your help. I had thought that this would be the case- I had read the information in the 'Viscount caravans-Sydney' thread several times but kept getting caught up with the 5 year span between what the rego papers say and the gas check date.
