Here it is...almost nine months to the day since I bought the Thomson.... it emerged from the work-shop last weekend with it's new paint job almost finished, I am still waiting for some American hardwood to arrive from the States which will make the full length side bumper rail, this runs along both sides just below the base of the door, hopefully with-in a couple of weeks that will be in place. below are photos of the birth ;D ;D ;D ;D Any comments and Birth-day cards gratefully received ....kiwijim

G'day kiwijim, one really really classy van you have there!! What's the history story of this van?? (...went looking for it in the Hall Of Fame but couldn't find anything...?) It'll be a real crowd-stopper once you get it out on the highway...actually, the crowd will probably stop you from getting it out onto the highway!! Congratulations on the new addition to your family ;D (Cigars all round I reckon) cheers, Al.

G'Day ATOG. AL and all, thanks for the kind remarks regarding the Thomson Re-berth, to answer your questions first ATOG, the name on the front and on the sides of the van is the word "Gleneagle" yet to be added to the front awning is the Thomson Emblem as shown below... this is proving to be a real headache for the guy who is trying to copy it from a down-loaded picture obtained from the Thomson web-site in Scotland, apparently is can-not be photo copied, it has to be hand drawn and so far it has taken three weeks and still not finished... thank god I have a good sponsor for the van. The hardwood on it's way from the States is either ASH or SEEDA it depends on what my mate can get his hands on I have already been told that we will not get any peace when we hit the road with the Thomson, may-be we can make a quid by putting it on display, that might pay for the petrol money, I would love to know the full history of the Thomson, all I can find out is that after a lot of investigation I am confident in stating...it's the only one of it type in Aussie, built in Scotland in 1970 some-one bought it to Aussie in the early 80's, it was written off in Perth after an accident and was rescued from a wrecking yard by a couple who rebuilt it and have taken it around Aussie twice already. I found the Thomson sitting in the back of a trucking yard nine months ago, apparently it had been there for over four years after the owner passed away, the van was covered in dust and grime and looked pretty sorry for it's self. I purchased it from the Son-in-law who could-not give a hoot what happened to it for the expensive cost of $800.00. ( now insured for $10.000 ) internal photos of the revamp will be shown shortly, we still have small things to do like hang new curtains and repaint the bath-room. cheers all kiwijim

Hi Kiwijim,
What a great van. A lot of the English vans had a style about them that seems along the lines of the Aussie & NZ vans, much more so than the USA vans.
With your logo,, I just clicked on it & printed it on one of my colour printers, & got a pretty good image first go. I'm surprised that a competent computer graphics geek couldnt easily make you some stickers from that image. BUT I'm only surmising that from the copy I made. I dont have the same cutters & printers they use.

G'Day jbj. yes I also had no problem printing the logo for the thomson, I fronted the guy who is making it and he explained ( and showed me ) that under extreme magnification which his scanner/printer uses, he found that the lines were made up of three different colors, when the scanner tried to print the logo, the colors separated all over the place, as a result crooked lines all running together. After three weeks working on the logo I am glad I don't have to pay for it, it sure payed to do some after-hours work for the company and in a moment of weakness the owner offered to sponsor the new decals, he also paid for the paint, lights and new upholstery, plus a few other things he is yet to discover" He He" ;D ;D Cheers jbj and thanks for the remarks. kiwijim
