G'day ronnie1812 and welcome to the forum! ;D ;D I remember coming across all the Starcraft information when I researched the newspaper archives earlier this year. From memory, the Starcraft company was from Indiana in America, and first exhibited a number of their camper trailers and camper bodies in the 1972 Sydney Caravan Show. Apparently Millard had encouraged them to come out here with some display models. Around this time, Millard entered into a licencing arrangement with Starcraft to manufacture the various models here, and so began the Millard Starcraft range. Your camper sounds like it's had a heap of work done to it. Sounds almost like brand new from your description! We'd be interested in seeing a few photos of it if you can navigate through the Photobucket experience. Have a read of this thread: POSTING PHOTOS to try and understand how to do it. If you have any trouble, let us know and we'll help you step through it. Good to have you with us!! ;D ;D cheers, Al.

Hi guys thanks for doing that for me.I am not real good with these computers. As usual my kids mainly use it not me.Thanks for putting that link on for us also i sorta figgered out how to put them on photobucket and was stumped at transfering them across to here.Yeah the van is an oldie but for me and the misses and the two kids it is brilliant. We only new to this caravan stuff but love all the new people you meet at the caravan park.We will be going away to Canberra in 8 weeks so that will be its next big tryout.Just got to check the wheel bearings and regrease them.I would hate for one of them to stuff up out in the middle of nowhere.Especially with the sides being real low over the wheels. There isnt much room to change a tyre or do a bearing. Thanks again cheers Ron

Hi Ronny Welcome aboard. That looks a bit of alright. You should have heaps of good times in it. The kids should enjoy it too.. Yep wheel bearings .... most important particularly if you plan on towing it anywhere... bobt

Hi Guys thanks for that Al .I just had to show a pic of the interior. The previous owners spent a mint on it.Even down to the lace curtains and the new fridge which only runs on 240volt but that is ok with us.I have to get some descent size tail lights for it as the ones on it are real small and i nearly had a chick nearly run up the back of us on the way home from Melbourne.A few people have told me about getting some swaybars fitted to it ?Just wondering do you think they are worth it or not?The van doesnt get the sways up or anything and after a little while you forget the van is on.Could someone let me know if they are worth putting on or should i just leave it?Cheers Ron

Cripes Ron, I hardly think you'd need swaybars on a campervan! But just to clarify, are you talking about swaybars that fit on the axle, or are you thinking of the "weight distribution hitch" on the tow coupling? Either way, I still don't think these lightweight campers need any of that additional stuff. All the weight is low down at floor level, and they don't weigh that much overall anyway. Jeez, I've taken my 5'x7' box trailer to the sand/soil/gravel depot and filled it with half a ton of gravel or sand on heaps of occasions. Never had any trouble towing it around...no swaying or ride level problems. Can't see why these campers would be any different to a full box trailer. My opinion?...save your money!! cheers, Al.

Hi, Really nice little unit you have there. Sway bars come into there own when the tow ball weight is high, transferring too much lift to the front wheels of the tow tug. This is the underlying cause of many van accidents. So, ... in my opinion, ... they are always useful in overcoming the effects of down thrust on the ball. With a light van one of the cheapy units is fine with only one leveller spring each side. What is the tow vehicle? You can assess the tow ball weight with the unit fully loaded. Bathroom scales can do the job per the diagram below. Tow ball weight should be 10% of the units weight, fully loaded, for the most stable towing.
